PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Kimberly Guilfoyle took a subtle jab at her ex-husband California Governor Gavin Newsom after President-elect Donald Trump slammed him for not being able to control the Los Angeles wildfires.

Newsom has been busy for the past couple of days as he is working to protect Californians from the wildfire that's been terrorizing the Golden State since January 7, 2025. However, Trump felt otherwise.

Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced a proposal which would expand the program to $750 million annually, a major increase from the $330 million currently allocated, amid sluggish film and TV productions in Hollywood and across California. Donald Trump took to Truth Social and claimed that California Governor Gavin Newsom rejected a document called the Water Restoration Declaration which would have allowed gallons of water to flow into several areas of California, some of which are succumbing to the raging wildfire, according to The List.

He wrote, "Governor Gavin News**m refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way. He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid."

Moreover, he also criticized the California governor's response to the fire and brutally trolled him. Trump wrote, "As of this moment, Gavin News*** and his Los Angeles crew have contained exactly ZERO percent of the fire. It is burning at levels that even surpass last night. This is not Government. I can’t wait till January 20th!"

Guilfoyle made the most of the situation and proudly reposted Trump's Truth Social comments for her followers on Instagram.

Interestingly, reposting the President-elect's message about Gavin Newsom might be the closest Guilfoyle has come to talking to her ex-husband in a while as the two have not been on talking terms.

Gavin Newsom and Kimberly Guilfoyle are not on talking terms

In an interview with MSNBC, Newsom was asked if he and Guilfoyle still kept in touch. The California governor said, "Nope, not lately," according to People.

Notably, this wasn't always the case as even after their divorce, Newsom and Guilfoyle's relationship with each other didn't seem adversarial at first. They had promised to remain friends after announcing their breakup to the world, per The List.

However, Guilfoyle and Newsom's ideologies changed as time passed. Newsom blamed Guilfoyle's time on Fox News for her stark change, whereas Guilfoyle believed Newsom changed because of her absence.

In an interview with SF Gate, Guilfoyle said, "Gavin was not as far left as he's gone now. Sadly, now that he's not under my tutelage and influence, he's strayed."

Moreover, Guilfoyle also explained that her change wasn't as extreme as some might've thought and claimed she was always a conservative at heart.

Furthermore, Newsom's strong criticism of Trump and his policies caused a greater rift between the pair. Guilfoyle said, "I don't like his position on guns at all; that really wasn't an issue when we were together but he's really taken a hard stance on that. Obviously, he's been very aggressive as it relates to the wall and President Trump and that type of thing."

Gavin Newsom slammed for 'photo op' at Palisades Fire

Gavin Newsom was slammed online after he posted footage of himself visiting the fires burning Los Angeles as critics accused him of turning the disaster into a photo-op.

Newsom wrote in a post on his X account, "On the ground getting briefed" as he was being briefed by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection on the disaster.

However, people on the internet did not like the post and ended up trolling him. A user commented on the post, "Gavin Newsom has arrived for the photo op of him watching his state burn to the ground."

Another wrote, "JUST IN: California Gov. Gavin Newsom has showed up to the scene of the Palisades fire to put his hands in his back pockets."

One person remarked, "Sadly, Newsom created thousands of these types of preventable photo ops through his total mismanagement of the state of California and his dysfunctional attempt at leadership."
