LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In an interview on 'Meet the Press', South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem expressed her stance on the January 6 Capitol attack, stating that individuals facing charges related to the event should be evaluated for pardons on a case-by-case basis.

Emphasizing a strong aversion to future incidents like January 6, Noem underscored the importance of examining each person's involvement individually.

"We don't want to see another January 6th again," Noem asserted, highlighting a widespread sentiment against such violence in the country.

When questioned by NBC's Peter Alexander about former President Donald Trump's suggestion of pardoning those involved if re-elected, Noem reiterated her position that these decisions should be made by Trump based on his discretion and after careful consideration of each case.

"What I have been very clear about is that we don’t want to see another January 6th again. Nobody in this country wants to see another day like that again," she said firmly.

"And I believe that Donald Trump, when he comes back to the White House and is in charge of this country, we’re going to have incredible opportunities to show that people in this country will be safer, that we’ll have law and order back in our streets," she added optimistically.

During the interview, Noem also spoke about the potential return of Donald Trump to the White House, suggesting that under his leadership, there would be opportunities to enhance safety and restore law and order.

Trump has previously voiced intentions to pardon individuals convicted in connection with the Capitol riot, describing them as "hostages" and indicating it would be among his initial actions upon re-assuming the presidency.

Alexander repeatedly pressed Noem on whether she agreed with Trump's stance on pardoning those involved in the attack. She maintained that the decision should be "based on his prerogative and his decision when he looks at those cases."

"Each of those individuals needs to be looked at separately, as far as what their role was and what was happening in that situation," she clarified.
