FAIRMOUNT PARK, PHILADELPHIA: A man and woman were shot and killed near a historic mansion in Fairmount Park on Thursday, February 27, night.

Emergency services were called to the 3800 block of Mount Pleasant Drive just before 11 p.m. after a body was discovered as per NBC news

They found Krystina Chambers, 38, with gunshot wounds to her chest and head, and Thurston Cooper, 49, with a gunshot wound to his head.

A double homicide investigation is underway after both victims were found lying next to each other in a gully by the roadside and were not responsive.

What did Chief Inspector Scott Small say?

Chief Inspector Scott Small stated that it seemed they were killed execution-style because they were found lying next to each other with gunshot wounds to their heads.

He claimed, “At this point, it appears that they were both shot and killed execution-style, not only because they’re lying next to each other. They both have gunshot wounds to the head.”

He added after noticing the three used shell casings nearby, “It appears the shooter or shooters were standing very, very close to these two victims when the shots were fired, since the ballistic evidence was right there, just a few feet away.”

They were both declared dead at 11:12 p.m.

Surveillance cameras at the Mount Pleasant Mansion nearby might have captured the shooting or suspects. Both Chambers and Cooper lived in Philadelphia.

According to People, Krystina Chambers worked as a dental assistant and was a mother to four children aged 12, 13, 14, and 17. 

One of Chambers' children, Taye Evans, said, "She cared about us a lot and she tried to do everything for us and tried to make a way for us to have a good life."  

Evans also shared the last conversation he had with his mom hours before she was killed, recalling, "I said, 'Hi and I love you.' And she said, 'I love you' back and that was the last time I heard from her."

Chambers' mother, Terri Chambers, said, "She was a beautiful person. She was very good. She loved people." 

Reacting to her daughter's death, she added, "It's awful. How could you do that to somebody? It's just out of control. Nobody should have to die like that."
