Lara Trump's announcement on X

In her social media post, Lara Trump thanked her followers for their support as she shared her decision not to be considered for the Senate.

"After an incredible amount of thought, contemplation, and encouragement from so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate," she wrote.

"I could not have been more honored to serve as RNC co-chair during the most high-stakes election of our lifetime and I’m truly humbled by the unbelievable support shown to me by the people of our country, and here in the great state of Florida. I have read so many of your kind messages and I cannot thank you enough," she continued.

In the meantime, I wish Governor DeSantis the best of luck with this appointment."

Lara Trump trolled for backing out of Senate race

Lara Trump was brutally trolled on X following her announcement on Saturday.

"Lara Trump said she's removing her name from consideration by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for the Senate seat to replace Marco Rubio. Bye bish!" wrote a social media user.

"At least she recognizes her grade level, knowing that her presence & actions would be ridiculed," stated another.

"Lara Trump announced that she will not be a Senator. In other news, I withdraw my name from consideration for the next lead singer of Fleetwood Mac," remarked one person.

"Translation: She was just told Desantis isn’t picking her," commented another.

"DeSantis likely indicated he was not going to pick Lara. DJT recently indicated as such. RDS might have told them who he will be picking," one individual said, adding that the "withdrawal" was "announced to save face for all parties."

"Guessing it was removed," added another.
