NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Laura Ingraham just lit a match that triggered an explosive liberal meltdown on social media.

The Fox News firebrand mocked thousands of recently laid-off federal employees, dismissing their plight by advising them to "get real jobs.”

Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s massive government purge

Since President Donald Trump stormed into his second term last month, he and his new right-hand man Elon Musk have gone scorched earth on the federal workforce.

Musk, who now heads the ominously titled Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has taken a particular interest in the effort as he leads a brutal downsizing campaign that has left thousands of government employees out of work - and Ingraham is loving every bit of it, the Independent reported.

On Monday night’s show, she mocked Democrats for trying to make the laid-off workers into sympathetic figures.

“How do you resurrect your party, though, by protecting red tape and the bureaucracy?” she asked, before answering her own question,

“By trying to gin up sympathy for federal workers who need to get real jobs in the real world like most of America. Ever heard of it?”

But she wasn’t done. “Do Democrats really think that Americans will stop liking Trump because he fires these people?” she mused, as the network rolled a clip of a federal employee venting about Musk’s latest draconian move.

Elon Musk’s ruthless 'resignation' email

The SpaceX founder-turned-government executioner has been wielding his power mercilessly, slashing agencies left and right.

On Saturday (February 22), he unleashed his most ruthless move yet - a mass email from the Office of Personnel Management.

Every single federal employee — millions of people — was ordered to justify their existence by detailing what they had done the previous week. “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation," Musk warned.

The audacity of it left workers stunned. “I felt absolutely infuriated getting this email with a demand within 48 hours to provide a response on what I did within the last week or face termination,” federal worker MT Snyder told CNN.

“This is clearly an attempt from Elon Musk to harass and bully and intimidate the federal workforce, which is part of his broader plan to gut the federal workforce and privatize public sector services,” she added.

Laura Ingraham slammed as she rolls her eyes at the chaos

If Snyder was looking for sympathy, she wasn’t getting any from Laura Ingraham.

The Fox News host practically rolled her eyes at the outrage, mocking Snyder for finding the request burdensome.

“Now, making a list of what you accomplished in a week, that she was whining about, is ‘harassment’ and ‘bullying?’” Ingraham scoffed. “Of course, because that requires, what? Fifteen minutes of work?”

And she wasn’t done slamming federal employees. “These are the same types that think requiring them to return to the office, oftentimes where they haven’t been for four years, basically amounts to a hate crime,” she sneered.

The backlash was immediate and relentless. Liberals on social media tore into Ingraham’s dismissive attitude.

"Ingraham has to be the most annoying news anchor on earth," one fumed.

"She’s so obnoxious," a second user raged.

"Well, we can’t all make millions of dollars by lying on TV," another shot back.

"If anyone needs a real job, it's Laura Ingraham," read a comment.

"We’ll see how she likes it when she has to wait on the phone for two hours to get service from the IRS," someone else chimed in.

"They can't attack Biden anymore so they are attacking regular Americans," another insisted.

Elon Musk's work as DOGE head

The Department of Government Efficiency has been on a warpath, slashing entire departments, axing tens of thousands of jobs, and freezing several government functions.

Nearly all employees at the US Agency for International Development have been placed on administrative leave. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has had most of its work paused. Tens of thousands more government employees have lost their jobs overnight.

A US Army veteran, recently fired from his position at the Small Business Administration, told NPR that he was left completely in the dark, unable to access the paperwork needed to claim unemployment. Another former federal employee, previously working for the US Forest Service, told the New York Times that he now fears he won’t be able to keep up with his mortgage payments.

The human toll of Musk’s aggressive cuts is growing, but Ingraham remains unmoved. On her show, she framed Trump’s mass firings as a "deeply patriotic" act and argued that his mission to gut the federal workforce is about making the government run more efficiently.

Democrats have been scrambling to fight back, but so far, their response has been largely limited to legal challenges. Ingraham wasted no time mocking them for their approach, calling their efforts “unpatriotic.”
