The truth behind Elon Musk’s special bond with son X and why the 4-year-old is always by his side

The father-son duo share a unique bond, with Musk's official biographer Walter Isaacson claiming that X, one of the Tesla tycoon's 12 children, has long been a non-negotiable member of Musk's entourage, per Daily Mail.
Why is Elon Musk's four-year-old son X essential to billionaire's entourage?
Elon Musk is an outspoken supporter of increased birth rates, stating in a New York Times interview that "babies are super cool" and "if people don’t have enough babies, humanity will disappear."
Currently a father of 12 children, 13 if recent reports are to be believed, Musk appears to have a special relationship with 4-year-old X. He made headlines when he visited the White House with X and toddler was seen conversing with President Donald Trump.
Trump presented X as a "high IQ individual," but he fortunately turned out to be a typical four-year-old with no obvious marks of brilliance.
Walter Isaacson wrote, "X had an otherworldly sweetness that calmed and beguiled Musk, who craved his presence. He took X everywhere," when X was a baby.
That close bond has only gotten stronger as the boy has grown. Musk, 53, claims that the child's first words were "car, rocket and daddy" and is convinced that he is a genius.
However, the background of this relationship is both intriguing and concerning. Musk and Canadian singer Grimes (real name: Claire Elise Boucher) are parents to three children, including X.
Following a contentious legal struggle, it seems that she has custody of the two younger children. Musk, on the other hand, has not been willing to give up X and is accused of preventing him from seeing his mother and her family, a charge he has not addressed.
Moreover, he was terribly hurt by the death of his son Nevada, by his first wife Justine Wilson, from sudden infant death syndrome in 2002. He was also deeply hurt by his second child, Xavier, who changed her name to Vivian, and her decision to reject him when she turned 18.
"He was cold, quick to anger… uncaring and narcissistic... he doesn't know what I was like as a child because he quite simply wasn't there, and in the little time that he was, I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness," Vivian previously said of her father.
X accompanies Elon Musk almost everywhere
The software billionaire has attended multiple meetings with his oldest child, including the recent Oval Office one at the White House.
X sat on his father's lap when Time magazine named him Person of the Year in 2021 after flying into New York with his father on his private plane.
He was again present when Musk met Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in September 2023 and traveled to New York with his father to catch a documentary in April 2024.
The boy, who was three at the time, strolled around the Lobster Club wearing a Tesla T-shirt while guests ate sushi and sipped cocktails at a late-night after-party.
Also, X and his father were residing in a cottage on the Mar-a-Lago estate by the end of last year, just before Trump's inauguration.
Since then, Musk has also included his young child in Trump's court per his wishes. Trump's December post on Truth Social, which appeared to be a private message to Musk, served as a striking example of this.
"Where are you? When are you coming to the 'Centre of the Universe' Mar-a-Lago. Bill Gates asked to come, tonight. We miss you and x! New Year's Eve is going to be AMAZING!!! DJT," Trump wrote at the time.
