LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Grimes recently ripped into her former partner Elon Musk for parading their four-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii, during a high-profile Oval Office press conference.

Musk and little X stole the spotlight from Donald Trump on Tuesday, February 11, standing front and center, respectively, as the President announced an executive order aimed at DC bureaucrats. However, while Musk seemed perfectly comfortable having their son in front of the cameras, the child's mother, Grimes, had a lot to say about it.

When a follower on X (formerly Twitter) flagged the moment for her, Grimes didn’t hold back. "He should not be in public like this," she wrote. "I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I'm glad he was polite. Sigh."

Grimes has always been tight-lipped about Musk’s growing influence in politics, but she’s been clear when it comes to their son—this is not what she wants. She previously called Musk's public display of X "a personal tragedy of mine."

In a separate post, the singer slammed the absolute lack of decorum in American politics.

"I think so much of what's been happening over the last decade is simply that the art of diplomacy, oration, and generally competent leadership has been lost," she wrote.

"The purpose of politics is to find solutions when the population can't agree - but both sides have stoked hysteria rather than provide mature competent leadership," Grimes added.

The singer didn’t stop at dragging modern-day politics—she also gave a nod to "both Republicans and Democrats" of past administrations, saying at least they pretended to have some respect for the people.

"That is part of leadership, and that counts for a lot with regards to maintaining stability and yes, mental health," she wrote.

Her biggest frustration is that politicians are too busy playing petty games to actually get things done. "When I see bills getting killed that technically everyone agreed on that would have been good—just because of infighting—one side needing to one-up the other. It feels like it's personal between them rather than abt serving the greater good," she said.

Grimes says she's trying not to get deported

Despite her strong words, Grimes made it very clear she wasn’t trying to pick a fight—because she can’t afford to (and she's not an American citizen).

"I just don't wanna be deported haha - like literally," she admitted.

But she also doubled down on her call for civility in politics.

"I am asking you and everyone else to understand that our government was set up for coalitions and middle-ground decisions. I am asking this person, and you - to stop calling each other names. Decorum is an incredibly important part of reality, long forgotten in America," she responded to one follower.

She also teased that she’d be writing an op-ed about all this soon.

Elon Musk, MAGA, and the custody battle from hell

Of course, the drama between Grimes and Elon Musk is not limited to politics. Their on-again, off-again relationship, which lasted from 2018 to 2022, has turned into a full-blown custody nightmare.

The former couple share three children—sons X Æ A-Xii and Techno Mechanicus, plus daughter Exa Dark Sideræl—but their co-parenting situation is a mess.

In November, Grimes revealed she’d been locked in a year-long custody battle with Musk and hadn’t seen one of her children for five months. She further claimed Musk blocked their children from seeing their terminally-ill grandmother.

Musk filed for custody in Texas, where most of his businesses are based. Grimes fired back by suing in California, filing a petition to establish a parental relationship—which is usually the first step in an unmarried parent’s custody fight.

A Travis County Clerk later confirmed that the Texas case had been settled, but details remain hush-hush, according to the Daily Mail.
