WASHINGTON, DC: Laura Loomer launched an online tirade against former State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus, accusing her of being a disloyal “snake” within President-elect Donald Trump's orbit.

Right-wing influencer Loomer’s accusations, shared with her 1.3 million followers on X (formerly Twitter), come amid speculation that Ortagus is vying for a top role in Trump’s second administration.

Morgan Ortagus, a former Fox News contributor and Navy reservist, served as a spokeswoman during Mike Pompeo’s tenure as Secretary of State.

Loomer, a known Trump ally, alleged Ortagus was angling for the powerful position of Deputy Secretary of Defense after Rep Elise Stefanik was reportedly chosen as Trump’s pick for US Ambassador to the United Nations.

In her post, Loomer shared images of Ortagus wearing a Jeb Bush T-shirt and posing with Nikki Haley, a Trump critic and former US Ambassador to the UN, seemingly to brand Ortagus as a RINO (Republican in Name Only).

Loomer accused Ortagus of working against Trump during her State Department tenure, stating she has “receipts” to prove it and claiming Ortagus’ colleagues disliked her.

“Morgan Ortagus is a snake who is disliked by all of her colleagues at the State Department and is a traitor to Trump,” Loomer wrote, adding that Ortagus’ political connections were more opportunistic than genuine.

Laura Loomer’s critique extended into Morgan Ortagus’ personal life, raising eyebrows with comments about her twin sister’s marriage to a Muslim man and Ortagus’ second marriage to a “politically connected Jew,” officiated by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

These comments, which delved into Ortagus’ religion and family, drew sharp criticism online for their incendiary nature.

Ortagus, who is currently undergoing expeditionary combat training, responded tersely when contacted by Daily Mail.

“I’m at expeditionary combat training,” she said, declining to engage further about the accusations.

Donald Trump’s connection with Laura Loomer

Laura Loomer’s proximity to Donald Trump has been a point of contention, especially given her history of controversial statements, including conspiracy theories about the September 11 attacks and migrants.

In September, Trump who was running his 2024 presidential campaign defended Loomer as he called her a “private citizen and longtime supporter,” while distancing himself from her more outlandish claims.

“I don’t control Laura,” the president-elect said at the time when asked about their association.

“She’s a free spirit … but she’s tired of watching the Radical Left attack me,” Trump added.
