WASHINGTON, DC: Controversial MAGA influencer Laura Loomer went into a meltdown on Thursday, May 8, after Robert Francis Prevost became the first American-born pope.

Loomer took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her displeasure as she wrote, "He is anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, pro-open Borders, and a total Marxist like Pope Francis."

Laura Loomer says Catholics have nothing good to look forward to under Pope Leo XIV

The known conspiracy theorist continued, "Catholics don’t have anything good to look forward to. Just another Marxist puppet in the Vatican."

Interestingly, she was responding to an incident from 2015 where Prevost shared a Washington Post opinion piece by Cardinal Timothy Dolan titled, "Why Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric is so problematic," per The Daily Beast.

The controversial MAGA influencer was joined in her criticism by far-right podcaster and Pizzagate promoter Jack Posobiec.

He said on Real America’s Voice, "What I’m seeing from his social media does not bode well for Trump supporters," adding, "God save the church," as per The Daily Beast.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump congratulated the new pope in a Truth Social post, writing, "It is such an honor to realize that he is the first American Pope. What excitement, and what a Great Honor for our Country. I look forward to meeting Pope Leo XIV. It will be a very meaningful moment!"

Pope Leo XIV has not always had positive words for the POTUS and his administration.

An X account linked to Prevost shared an article in February criticizing Vice President JD Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, over his interpretation of Jesus' teachings.

The post read, "JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others."

Moreover, in 2017, after Trump suspended the US refugee program, Prevost reposted a tweet that mentioned, "We’re banning all Syrian refugees? The men, women, and children who *most* need help? What an immoral nation we are becoming. Jesus weeps."

Pope Leo XIV's past criticism of Donald Trump

After Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected the new pope, his past criticism of Donald Trump resurfaced online.

The 69-year-old recently retweeted a post criticizing the Trump administration's deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was sent to an El Salvador prison.

The tweet read, "As Trump & Bukele use Oval to [laughing crying emoji] Feds' illicit deportation of a US resident, once an undoc-ed Salvadoran himself, no-DC Aux+Evelio asks, 'Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscious not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?'"

The post contained a link to an article from the website Catholic Standard that compared the plights and persecutions faced by immigrant and refugee communities to the Passion of Jesus Christ, according to Rolling Stone

One wrote, "Are you Catholic, Laura? Or are you just an opportunist Christian?" while another added, "Laura, imagine being so obsessed with Trump that even the Pope has to pass your MAGA loyalty test. Are you okay?"

A person expressed, "I have a feeling that you wouldn’t be happy with anyone who was announced," whereas someone else said, "We trust God's plan we will be fine as Catholics. If you're not Catholic you can be quiet now."

"So he’s a humanitarian. Something you all don’t understand. Jesus was a humanitarian," an individual wrote. "Awesome ! If you hate him, he must be a righteous human!" another comment read.
