WASHINGTON, DC: Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is courting controversy once again - this time over her bank account, or rather her complete lack of one.

The firebrand Republican from Colorado just submitted her annual financial disclosure, and it’s raising more than just eyebrows. Her filing didn’t list a single asset - no income from her book 'My American Life', no bank accounts, nor a home mortgage.

Where did Lauren Boebert's assets go?

Some are trying to make sense of her financial situation.

Boebert, who recently finalized her divorce from husband Jayson Boebert, used to report assets jointly. That included a bank account and those 'My American Life' book royalties, the Independent reported.

But the updated disclosure doesn’t even mention her book income - suggesting either her royalties dried up, or the earnings dipped below the $200 threshold that would require her to report it under federal ethics rules. Members of Congress are required to disclose any income over $200 and any assets worth more than $1,000, so the blank pages are concerning.

It's worth noting that Boebert brings in a congressional salary of $174,000 a year. That figure alone must be reported, but apart from that, there's no trace of where her money's going or how she’s staying afloat.

Lauren Boebert slammed on social media over financial disclosure

“Blows my mind how poorly some members of Congress manage their own finances,” investigative reporter Andrew Kerr posted on X. “Divorce notwithstanding, it’s wild to me that a 38-year-old woman who makes $174,000/yr has a net worth of $0.”

Business Insider’s Bryan Metzger added, “With the caveat that she makes $174,000 per year and doesn’t have to disclose the value of any personal residence, Boebert is likely one of the poorest members of Congress.”

Caitlyn Kim of Colorado Public Radio wrote, “This is a first for me. CO Rep. Lauren Boebert's financial disclosure for 2024 discloses nothing. No book royalties (it was in her last disclosure), no bank accounts, no home mortgage. #copolitics."

Many others on social media piled on to the criticism.

“Hello @CongressEthics: Are you guys still in business?” one X user wrote, tagging the Office of Congressional Conduct account.

“@RepBoebert claims she has ZERO assets, did not travel, & is flat broke. LIES. She traveled to @CPAC on their dollar & to Maralardo multiple times on someone's dollar. OH, she's hiding assets during her divorce! INVESTIGATE!”

“The Repub-controlled Fed government (all 3 branches) will not enforce the rules. Nor will her low-info, low-IQ district vote her out. She has no real motivation to be transparent about the wealth she is accruing,” another alleged.

Some wondered whether any rules still matter. “She doesn't have to. No more laws. No more rules. No consequences. The US is done, and there's no going back. Enjoy!” a person fumed.

“That’s insane. They’re so comfortable with corruption, they just tell you they’re corrupt up front and out loud," someone else chimed in.

Another brought up House Speaker Mike Johnson’s own financial snafu.

“She’s taking the Mike Johnson 'I don’t have no stinking bank account' route. BTW—to work for the federal government, you MUST have a bank account for the purposes of depositing your paycheck. No more bullshit ‘range of income/assets’ disclosures. I want it to the PENNY," they insisted.

While Boebert hasn’t commented publicly on the mysteriously empty filing, she has been making headlines lately for her rumored romance with singer and MAGA darling Kid Rock.
