Authorities became aware of the injured infant, known as 'Strawberry,' when she was hospitalized due to cardiac arrest on February 22, 2024.

Tragically, she died two days later due to her injuries. Jacob Kubai, aged 22, was subsequently arrested and faces felony charges including aggravated manslaughter of a child, aggravated child abuse, and two counts of child abuse without bodily harm.

An autopsy conducted on February 27 revealed the extent of Strawberry's injuries, which included a skull fracture, numerous bruises on her forehead, 10 fractured ribs, spinal hemorrhaging, and multiple layers of brain bleeding, according to Judd.

Investigators suspect that the broken ribs occurred when Kubai squeezed her, and he is also accused of striking her forehead ten times and using a blunt object to hit the back of her head.

Sheriff Judd stated, "The baby was literally beaten to death." Kubai is currently held in custody at the Polk County Jail without bond.
