Lawsuit claims 'Hallmark' star Mike Heslin died after restaurant staff failed to provide CPR

PARADISE, NEVADA: In a recent court filing, Hallmark star Mike Heslin’s husband, Nicolas James Wilson aka Scotty Dynamo, claimed that employees at Javir’s restaurant inside the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas failed to provide proper emergency help, leading to Heslin’s cardiac arrest and eventual death in July 2024.
The 35-year-old actor, who starred in Zoe Saldana's series 'Lioness' and the TV movie 'The Holiday Plan,' died while dining at the restaurant on his birthday, July 2, 2024.
What the lawsuit says about Mike Heslin’s death?

According to the Daily Mail, the lawsuit filed on September 18 alleges wrongful death and claims the actor showed clear signs of a medical emergency. However, restaurant staff not only failed to help but also allegedly interfered with a nearby diner who attempted to perform CPR.
Heslin’s friends also stated in the filings that the restaurant never brought out the automated external defibrillator (AED), despite having one on-site, and that it was even removed during the incident.
According to the lawsuit, employees allegedly threatened other diners who tried to help. The staff reportedly demanded that videos be deleted when people attempted to record the emergency on their phones.
The restaurant is being sued on five counts, including wrongful death, loss of consortium, negligence, negligent hiring, retention, training and supervision, and gross negligence. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of $30,000, as well as funeral expenses and punitive damages.
MGM Resorts denies claims, vows to fight lawsuit in court

MGM Resorts International, the hospitality company that operates the restaurant, said in a statement to Page Six, “These claims are not aligned with the facts, and we will respond through the legal process.”

“If I had the power to trade places with you, I would do it in an instant.” He added that the couple was “in the early stages of starting a family and would regularly share our favorite baby names for our future kids.”
