Nicole Kidman opens up about life after Keith Urban divorce: ‘What I’m grateful for is my family’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicole Kidman has claimed that she’s “going to be moving toward what’s good” after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Keith Urban. The film producer and Urban were married from 2006 to 2025 and share two children, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
The actress opened up about the new phase of her life as she sat down for an interview with Variety.
Nicole Kidman says she’s ‘in full witch mode’
Kidman told the publication that last year was not her year, but 2026 is going to be. “I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell,” she said while referring to 2025.
“Now I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026. Here we go.’ I have ‘Practical Magic’ with Sandy. I’ll be in full witch mode,” the ‘Babygirl’ star added.
The Academy Award-winning actress will once again be seen as Gillian Owens in the sequel to the 1998 movie. She’s also working on season three of Taylor Sheridan's ‘Lioness.’
Nicole Kidman keeps personal life private after split
Further in the interview, Kidman shared that she’s fine after the turmoil in her personal life. “I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that.”
“Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women,” she added.
The ‘Big Little Lies’ star had filed for divorce from the country singer in September 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee, citing “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences.”
Keith Urban praises Nicole Kidman for choosing love
The documents filed in court also reportedly included a childcare plan agreed upon by the couple, which read, “The mother and father will behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced.”
“They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent. They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families,” the plan, according to which Kidman is the primary residential parent of their two daughters, added.
Over a year before the divorce was filed, Urban paid tribute to Kidman when she was honored with the AFI Life Achievement Award. The guitarist said, “Four months into our marriage, I’m in rehab for three months. Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own, and she chose love. And here we are 18 years later.”
