NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce a new guideline by the Federal Communications Commission that calls for all charges on internet bills to be clearly labeled on Wednesday, April 10.

While the administration sees it as an important step towards reigning in junk fees from service providers, netizens felt that their efforts are being misdirected from solving more pressing matters in the United States, such as inflation.

President Joe Biden's tweet

The incumbent shared a video message on X from the official account of POTUS, where he says, "Folks, my administration is taking a major step toward eliminating junk fees on internet bills. The FCC is requiring internet providers to tell you exactly what you're paying, (and) exactly what you're getting, when you purchase your internet plan. All on one simple label. No more hidden fees, no more confusing bills, and no more bait-and-switch tactics."

Along with the clip, Biden wrote in his post, "Starting today, my Administration is requiring big internet providers to tell you exactly what you’re paying – and what you’re getting – when you purchase your plan. These new labels will be clear and accurate. And they'll stop Americans from getting ripped off."

"Internet bills are Biden’s priority? How about addressing the inflation that keeps rising that makes it impossible to even afford internet?" inquired one user.

"All these stunt cos of Elections," noted another user.
