NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden took to X (formerly Twitter) to state the importance of the Affordable Connectivity Program on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

Aimed at providing reliable and high-speed internet across all households in the country, the incumbent pushed for its extension by Congress so the goal is met faster.

President Joe Biden says internet is an 'absolute necessity'

From the official account of POTUS on X, Joe Biden shared a clip where he stated, "High-speed internet isn't a luxury anymore, it's an absolute necessity. These investments help all Americans in red states and blue states as well. And we are not leaving anybody behind."

"It's critical for children to be able to do their homework. Small businesses to be able to sell their products. Filks to have access to telemedicine without driving to see their doctors if they live in the countryside," he continued.

The video further noted that 23 million households across the country "are at risk of losing affordable internet access because some Congressional Republicans believe the program is wasteful."

"Congress needs to reauthorize that program now," the President demanded before the clip ended.

He captioned the video, "Some Congressional Republicans call the Affordable Connectivity Program wasteful. I call it necessary. It’s time Congress extended it so the 23 million households across America that rely on the program can stay connected."
