WASHINGTON, DC: Civil rights activist Leo Terrell praised President Donald Trump’s leadership, describing him as the “greatest president” and asserting that the United States has become the “hottest country” in the world under his administration.

His remarks came during a White House celebration marking 100 years of Black History Month, where Trump highlighted Black administration officials, rejected accusations of racism, and promised “a century more” of success for African Americans.

During the event, Trump invited Terrell to speak, saying, “He's been my friend for a long time. Leo Terrell. There's no better. Come on up here, Leo. This guy. He says it like it is. I like Leo.”

Terrell began by thanking the president, “Thank you very much, Mr President. First of all, we are living under the administration of the greatest president in our lifetime. And we have the hottest country in our lifetime.”

He said he wanted to make sure the mainstream media knows this, stating that they represent the people who counter what the mainstream media has done.

Terrell credited Trump with fully funding historically Black colleges and universities. He said, “President Trump was the president who fully funded historically black colleges and universities. President Trump took the lead and performed criminal justice reform. President Trump made sure that we had opportunity zones.”

He concluded by saying, “This country is at a crossroads and we have the right president at the right time. And if you want school choice like I know you do, President Trump wants it. If you want a law and order society and secure border, President Trump wants that".

Terrell further stated, "And more importantly, I say this because this is the greatest country on the planet. American citizens should decide American election. Vote for the Save Act.”

Trump responded by praising Terrell, saying, “Thank you, Leo 2.0. We know we love. That was very good.  Anyway, so he's a special guy. Watched him on Sean Hannity a long time ago. Used to be a Democrat. You know, Leo was a Democrat.”

Trump touts America as world’s 'hottest' nation

Trump has repeatedly described the US as the “hottest country in the world.” Wearing a red 'Make America Great Again' hat, Trump also made the remark while addressing the 1,002 members of the class of 2025 at the US Military Academy during a commencement ceremony.

He continued, “And you will become officers of the greatest and most powerful army the world has ever known. And I know, because I rebuilt that army, and I rebuilt the military. And we rebuilt it like nobody has ever rebuilt it before in my first term.”

He underscored an “America First” ethos for the military, stating, “We’re getting rid of distractions and we’re focusing our military on its core mission: crushing America’s adversaries, killing America’s enemies and defending our great American flag like it has never been defended before.”

In a key address to the nation while announcing his outlay for 2026, Trump reiterated the same claim and listed his achievements. For most of his speech, he blamed his predecessor Joe Biden and the Democrats for “mismanagement” and pushing the country to the “brink of ruin.” He said, “One year ago, our country was dead. Now, we are the hottest country in the world.”
