BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Liam Payne's tragic death sent shockwaves around the world, prompting heartfelt tributes from his former friends in One Direction as they remembered the late singer.

However, a TikTok user found that former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson was the only person from the boy band who followed Liam on Instagram before the tragic incident unfolded, per Distractify.

Louis Tomlinson was only One Direction member following Liam Payne before his death

TikTok user @starg1111rll explained who was following Liam Payne at the time of his death in a viral video. She wrote in the video, "Harry unfollowed everyone, Zayn did too. Louis was the only one following Liam. Not even Niall, who Liam was in Argentina to see originally. Niall followed everyone except Liam."

The TikTok user added, "Liam was following every single one of them." Moreover, Zayn Malik only follows 13 people on Instagram, none of whom are from One Direction, while Harry Styles also does not follow any of his former bandmates.

Despite not being a part of the band, Liam always praised his former band members before his death. During an episode of 'The Diary of a CEO' podcast in 2021, Liam said, "I get on great with most of them. I had a call from Harry the other day. I love him to pieces."

Liam Payne always spoke nice about his former bandmates

Liam Payne once expressed during an Instagram Live, "I think we've all felt this at different times, me and the boys. It's almost like missing a very dear friend a lot of the time. But everyone's so busy and you’ve got to be understanding of all that."

Liam also reconnected with his old friend and former band member Niall and gushed about their friendship before his tragic death.

The late singer mentioned on Snapchat, "It's been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We've got a lot to talk about. And I would like to square up a couple of things with the boy. No bad vibes or anything like that. But we need to talk."

After Liam's tragic demise on October 16, 'One Direction' released a joint statement that read, "We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."

The statement continued, "The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam."

Investigators explore circumstances surrounding Liam Payne's tragic fall from hotel balcony

Liam Payne might have been "semi-conscious or completely unconscious" when he fell from a third-floor hotel balcony, according to the prosecutor's office in Argentina.

Detectives claimed that many substances were seized from a hotel room, "indicating the previous situation of alcohol and drug consumption."

However, the statement contradicts police reports that state that the 31-year-old "jumped" from the balcony of the third-floor hotel. Detectives have reportedly seized a bottle of whiskey, a lighter, a phone, and a notebook from the singer's suite, according to local media reports.

Notably, Argentinian investigators are on the lookout for two women who were with Liam at the hotel on the night before his tragic death.
