MEDICAL LAKE, WASHINGTON: Lilea "Lilly" Stolworthy, 11, was fatally shot in the head outside her home on November 26. Her 31-year-old brother Jordan Brownlow is suspected of killing her before he shot himself.

Their mother, Darel Stolworthy, reportedly told KHQ that Lilly suffered from bipolar disorder and, at times, showed violent behavior at home as a result.

Both Jordan and Lilly have attempted suicide multiple times in recent years. Darel fears that the two agreed to die together, but investigators have yet to comment on this theory or provide any evidence in support.

The last text that Jordan sent in the family group chat read, "I'm sorry, please forgive me."

Darel and her husband shared 12 children, four of whom are adopted, including Lilly, reported the Daily Mail.

How was Lilly Stolworthy killed?

According to The Spokesman-Review, when Lilly Stolwort ran away from home shortly before Thanksgiving, her family decided to give some of her stuff to Jordan to store temporarily.

On returning home, Lilly wanted her things back, so she went with her brother to his car to fetch them. The Spokane County Sheriff's Office stated that Jordan was seen approaching Lilly before witnesses heard gunshots and saw a Ford Mustang fleeing the scene.

He was discovered in his car around 20 minutes later with a pistol in his hand. Jordan was hospitalized, where he remained on life support for several days before succumbing to his injuries.

Later, his organs have reportedly been donated.

Darel found Lilly shot in the street outside their home when she went out to check why the child was not returning.

Darel Stolworthy opened up about her daughter's struggles with mental health

Although Lilly was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was on medication, Darel revealed that her daughter's recovery was hampered by a lack of counseling due to a shortage of appropriate facilities. Moreover, Lilly herself was reluctant to commit to therapy.

In the last conversation between the two, Lilly apparently told her mother that she wanted to "be done" with life.

Admitting that the alleged killing by her son was a terrible thing to do, Darel insisted that Jordan saw his actions as a way to protect their family.

At a vigil organized for the child on November 30, Stolworthy told the attendees, "As I look out around to all these faces that were a part of Lilly’s life, it brings me joy. Get help if you need it. She would want you to be happy and healthy. Use her as an example to get help if you need it. Be kind to one another."
