DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS: It has been one year since Lindsay Clancy murdered her two young children and a newborn baby inside a Massachusetts home and the 'murderer' mother has since been reeling with grave wounds caused during the heinous incident.

The 34-year-old disgraced mother sparked a nationwide conversation on postpartum mental health after she reportedly strangled her own two kids with exercise bands prior to throwing herself out of the window.

Lindsay Clancy's husband found his children's bodies inside their home's basement

Clancy's husband Patrick found his lifeless children inside the basement of their home on January 24 last year and also found his suffering from critical injuries in the backyard. Clancy had attempted to take her own life and is believed to have slashed her wrist and throat before throwing herself out of the window of their home in Duxbury, about an hour south of Boston, prosecutors said.

Lindsay Clancy is likely to remain permanently paralyzed

Clancy was admitted to a hospital where she remains todayband will likely be paralyzed from the waist down for the rest of her life, her attorney said. Her husband usually worked from home but, on the day of the murder, he had been out picking up dinner and some medication for their oldest daughter who was having stomach issues.

Lindsay Clancy was reportedly suffering from mental health issues

Clancy was a nurse, but had also been home to take care of their three children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and seven-month-old baby Callan. As per her defense attorney Kevin Reddington, Clancy had been suffering from mental health issues in the weeks leading up to the killings.

She admitted herself to the psychiatric facility McLean Hospital on New Year's Day and spent four days there before she was discharged after it was decided she was no danger to herself or others, Mass Live reports. Notes taken from Clancy's phone reveal she was meticulous about her day, what medicine she was taking and how the prescriptions made her feel, prosecutors said.

A Plymouth County prosecutor said this was one of the many signs that Clancy was of sound mind when she allegedly hatched a plot to kill her children.

Lindsay Clancy was like 'zombie' from being 'medicated'

However, Reddington argued in a January hearing last year that Clancy was like a "zombie" from being "overmedicated." Clancy was prescribed multiple medications, including Zoloft, Valium, Trazadone, Ativan, Klonopin, Prozac, and Seroquel, according to Patrick.

He alleges that her postpartum mental health led to a deadly psychotic break. "She obviously had no reason to kill those three beautiful children," Reddington said in an October hearing. "You have to ask yourself why. Why? And when you ask yourself why, you consider all these factors, it’s readily apparent that this woman was a troubled soul,” Reddington added.

Clancy has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. She's being held at Tewksbury Hospital and no trial date has been set.
