WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) accused the Democrats of introducing legislature that sought to "destroy" conservative Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas in the US Supreme Court during his appearance on 'Fox News Sunday' on June 23.

The bill in question, called the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency (SCERT) Act, would have altered financial disclosure requirements, ethical standards and recusal requirements that apply to Supreme Court justices. It was blocked by Senate Republicans earlier in June, reported Fox News.

Graham also labeled President Joe Biden as "reckless" during the interview, and claimed most Americans felt unsafe under the current administration.

Lindsey Graham's take on the blocked Supreme Court Bill

"The worst thing that could happen is for the United States Senate and the House to determine what cases the Supreme Court hears," Senator Lindsay Graham told host Shannon Bream on Sunday.

Responding to Sen Chris Coons' (D-Del) rhetoric on the bill, he continued, "The bill that he talked about was killed on the floor of the Senate because it would allow lower court judges to determine when a Supreme Court justice should be recused."

According to the bill's summary, it would have additionally expanded "the circumstances under which a Justice or judge must be disqualified" and required the "Supreme Court and the Judicial Conference to establish procedural rules for prohibiting the filing of or striking an amicus brief that would result in the disqualification of a Justice, judge, or magistrate judge."

"It was a constitutional overreach. They're trying to micromanage the Roberts court. They're trying to destroy Alito and Thomas because they don't like the fact they're conservative judges," noted Graham.

"I like Chris (Coons), but in his world, the people over there are part of a political team that when Democrats fail at the ballot box, people over there will fix the problem from a liberal perspective. Donald Trump changed the court. They're squealing like stuck pigs because the Supreme Court no longer is a political body. It is actually looking at the Constitution and making constitutionally sound decisions versus political decisions. That's the problem liberals have with the court," he added.

President Biden has been vocal of his criticism of the Supreme Court, stating at a recent fundraiser event that the it has "never been as out-of-kilter as it is today."

"Most Americans believe that they're not safer under President Biden than they were under Trump," Graham slammed back in response to the take.

"Chris Coons, a dear friend, said that there's a good case to be made that you're safer today than you were when President Trump was president. If you believe that, you shouldn't be allowed to drive. That's silly. That's dangerously wrong. The border is beyond broken. You have wars in Ukraine. You have the Mid-East on fire. When it comes to enforcing the law, Joe Biden has been beyond reckless,' he added.

Internet calls Supreme Court justices corrupt while reacting to Lindsey Graham's comments

Netizens slammed Senator Lindsey Graham and made a case for the Supreme Court reforms bill in response to his views as the following comments on the Fox News website demonstrate.

"LOL - MAGAs are saying 'EVERYTHING IS RIGGED!'.... Except the stuff that is obviously being rigged right in front of them in public. Like SCOTUS judges taking bribes from billionaires. What a freakin joke," wrote a social media user.

"Repub judges are like the Witch of the West - they melt when confronted with 'ethics,'" jibed another.

"No one is going to come between those judges and their yacht time," one person wrote.

"REPUBLICAN SUPREME COURT JUSTICES -- THE BEST MONEY AND A FANCY RV CAN BUY !!" exclaimed another.

"The bill would have established accountability for SCOTUS, you'd this the GOP who cries 'weaponized justice system' would support more transparency and accountability," shared one individual.
