Lionel Richie hospitalized again after suffering another heart issue, cancels three shows
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lionel Richie has once again been hospitalized following another heart issue.
The latest hospitalization has also forced him and the ‘Earth, Wind & Fire’ band to cancel their next three shows, September 26 in San Francisco, September 30 in Chicago, and October 2 in Columbus, Ohio.

PEOPLE reported that the singer, 77, was admitted to the hospital this week amid the ‘Sing a Song All Night Long’ Tour with ‘Earth, Wind & Fire’.
According to Richie's representative, he “underwent a common procedure for atrial fibrillation (AFib). The doctor said everything went perfectly,” before adding, “Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon.”
According to Cleveland Clinic, atrial fibrillation means “an irregular heart rhythm that begins in your heart’s upper chambers (atria). Symptoms include fatigue, heart palpitations, trouble breathing and dizziness.”
Lionel Richie hospitalized in August after dehydration scare
Meanwhile, Richie’s latest hospitalization came days after he was admitted in late August following a performance in St Louis on August 29, where he spent three days in the hospital.
At the time, the musician faced dehydration issues and reportedly told the crowd, “Some things have been happening on this tour that kind of shook me up a little bit, because I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on. I went back to the doctor, and he said, 'You are suffering from dehydration.’”
In June, Richie also fell ill on stage during the first night of the tour. At the time, a statement from United Center read, “Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows on Friday, June 26 in Chicago, IL and Saturday, June 27 in Columbus, OH. He and Earth, Wind & Fire will return to the stage on Tuesday, June 30 in Pittsburgh, PA.”
“Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes fans who have tickets for these two shows. Rescheduled dates will be announced soon,” it added.
Lionel Richie thanks fans amid ongoing health issues
In July, the legend took to Instagram to express gratitude for all the good wishes he had received.
“Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love. I’m doing well, and I’m grateful for all of you,” he shared.
Richie also added, “Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute joy. The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd… we made real memories together. See you in Toronto... let’s party all night long!”
