EDNA, TEXAS: Lizbeth Medina, a teenage cheerleader, was murdered this week in a south Texas town. Police there have released images of a "person of interest" and an "associated vehicle."

In a statement, Edna Police Chief Rick Boone stated that they are looking for information on a male who may have a "tattoo located behind his right ear" after a preliminary investigation.

What does Lizbeth Medina's alleged killer look like?

The suspect is seen in pictures sporting a black Volcom hoodie. According to authorities, the male driver was observed operating a silver Ford Taurus, with a "year model ranging from 2010 - 2018."

16-year-old Medina was discovered dead in her apartment on Tuesday in a community tucked away near the Gulf of Mexico and south of Houston.

Jacqueline Medina, her mother, claimed that her daughter had been "ripped away" from her. "The most horrible way a mother could find her child. She was murdered in cold blood," she told KHOU.

Lizbeth never attended the local Christmas parade where she was supposed to participate with her cheer squad.

"Someone dared to go in and just rip my daughter away from me, it just kills me," Jacqueline continued. "I just want answers to why they would do this to an amazing little girl who would never hurt anyone, wouldn't dare to hurt anyone."

The Edna police have contacted the Texas Rangers division of the Texas Department of Public Safety to look into capital murder.

As of December 9, no new information has been released about the suspect, reports The Messenger.

Who was Lizbeth Medina?

Lizbeth cheered for the junior varsity cheer squad at Edna High School while she was a student.

She and her mother, Jacquelin Medina, had been residing in Edna for approximately a year. Lizbeth was scheduled to march in the Christmas parade on the day of the tragic incident.

Jacquelin did not see her at the event even though she had gone to watch the parade in support of her daughter. After checking with her friends, she eventually went home and found Lizbeth dead.
