WASHINGTON, DC: Megyn Kelly welcomed veteran correspondent Scott Pelley's firing from ‘60 Minutes’.
The conservative political commentator's comments came with little sympathy for Pelley. They also landed as CBS faces growing scrutiny over editorial and management changes.
Megyn Kelly says Scott Pelley's firing was the 'right call'
Kelly did not hold back when discussing Pelley's exit from CBS News, arguing that the veteran journalist had earned his dismissal years ago.
“I don’t blame her one bit,” Kelly said of CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss firing Pelley. “It was the right call.”
She then delivered an even sharper assessment of the former ‘60 Minutes’ star.
“He is arrogant, he’s a prick,” Kelly said, adding that Pelley’s “narcissism and closed-mindedness on the air entitled him to a firing long, long ago.”
Kelly also pointed to a prediction she said she made months earlier.
According to the former Fox News host, she forecast in December that Weiss would eventually remove Pelley and that CBS News insiders would “eat her alive from within.”
“It came today,” Kelly said. “He’s fired before we are halfway through 2026.”
Megyn Kelly targets Bari Weiss and CBS leadership
Even while backing the decision to fire Pelley, Kelly accused CBS management of mishandling the situation.
“The way this s**t is going down is completely unprofessional and bush league,” she said.
Kelly argued that CBS had transformed what should have been an internal staffing matter into a public spectacle.
She reserved criticism for Weiss as well, questioning whether she had the experience needed to run a major television news operation.
“Bari Weiss knows nothing about broadcast journalism,” Kelly said. “She’s never worked in television.”
Kelly acknowledged Weiss' success building a successful brand at The Free Press but said that background did not qualify her to overhaul CBS News.
“That’s not the person to fix a television news outlet,” she said.
Megyn Kelly blasts CBS management as 'amateur hour'
Kelly also took aim at new ‘60 Minutes’ executive producer Nick Bilton, saying he lacked traditional broadcast journalism experience and would struggle to gain support from staff.
“There has to be some massaging of the team of talent and producers who are there, or fire them all,” Kelly said. “Do one or the other.”
She argued that CBS leadership had failed to manage the transition effectively.
“What you have over at CBS News right now is amateur hour in the management ranks,” Kelly added. “That is why we are seeing this very public dispute play out before our very eyes.”
"The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable. The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well."

Despite her criticism of CBS executives, Kelly said she supports efforts to reshape the network's flagship news program.
“The attempt to make ’60 Minutes’ somewhat more fair and balanced is a good thing,” Kelly said. “It’s a noble thing.”
But her backing of that goal came with a warning that the turmoil surrounding Pelley's firing has left CBS facing continued questions about how its leadership plans to handle the fallout.
