WASHINGTON, DC: Pop artist Lorde announced she donated $204,000 from merchandise sales in Minneapolis to immigrant rights organizations, sharing a photo of the phrase ‘ICE Out’ written on her hand alongside the news on Instagram.

The donation, made from her shows in the Minnesota city last October, goes to two groups focused on supporting immigrant communities amid recent federal immigration enforcement actions.

Both groups provide legal assistance, community support, and advocacy for immigrants, including those facing deportation, detention, or legal challenges.

The singer is currently on her “Ultrasound World Tour” and played a pair of shows in Minneapolis on October 11-12.

She wrote, “I’m donating our merch take in Minneapolis ($204k) to Minnesota Immigration Rights Action Committee + Immigrant Defense Network.”

The singer-songwriter’s contribution comes as many immigrant families are struggling in Minneapolis, where ICE has been deployed for the past month or so.

‘ICE Out’ message grows in music industry

Lorde is far from the only star who’s rallied support for Minneapolis.

She joins a growing list of musicians speaking out against ICE and its agents’ actions in Minneapolis and the United States at large.

Several artists, including Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, and Kehlani, wore “ICE out” pins on the red carpet at this past Sunday’s Grammy Awards, while several winners used their acceptance speeches to speak out.

Bad Bunny, who has been the subject of controversy ever since he was announced as the performer for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, used his time on the Grammy stage after winning best música urbana album to declare “ICE out.”

“We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens,” he said.

Eilish made similar remarks while accepting the award for song of the year: “I honestly don’t feel like I need to say anything but that no one is illegal on stolen land.”

By donating proceeds from merchandise sold at those shows, Lorde is directing a portion of her commercial earnings toward community groups engaged in legal and advocacy work related to immigration.

Lorde’s donation arrives amid a broader national debate over immigration policy and enforcement methods.

Minneapolis has been a focal point of that conversation after extended federal operations by ICE in the region sparked protests, community responses and political discussion.
