WASHINGTON, DC: Furious MAGA supporters are torching their signature red caps in protest, as frustration boils over at Donald Trump’s response to the long-promised Jeffrey Epstein files.

Viral videos showing hats burned in fire pits are drawing millions of views, becoming a symbol of disillusionment among his base.

The backlash follows Trump’s dismissal of Epstein-related concerns as “Radical Left Lunatics” propaganda, and a Department of Justice memo denying the existence of a client list, contradicting previous claims from Trump ally Pam Bondi.

Videos of Donald Trump voters setting their “Make America Great Again” caps on fire have exploded across social media, with users citing betrayal over the administration’s walk-back on the Jeffrey Epstein files.

One video, viewed more than 2.3 million times, shows a man placing three MAGA hats in a fire pit and dousing them with fluid.

“I’m not gonna play with these anymore,” he says. “MAGA hats are off. Burn baby burn.” As the caps burn, he adds, “And this is a great representation of what's left of MAGA,” panning to the charred remains.

In another post, a voter shared footage of a MAGA hat engulfed in flames, alongside the caption, “Just burnt my MAGA hat.”

That video has amassed over 29 million views and included a direct question about Trump’s relationship with Epstein.

Social media erupts over MAGA hat burnings and Donald Trump’s Jeffrey Epstein stance

As footage of MAGA hats being torched spreads across X, users are deeply divided, some questioning the authenticity of the videos, others defending Trump, and many declaring they’ve finally had enough.

One skeptical user posted, “MAGA doesn't burn anything. Therefore, they cannot be MAGA if they burn. You are a liar and a fraud.”

Another echoed the disbelief, writing, “I’d love to see receipts that this video is from a real MAGA follower.”

A self-proclaimed former supporter admitted to a change of heart: “I voted for Trump 3 times. After seeing his handling of Epstein, I’ll never vote for a MAGA candidate again.”

Others accused Democrats of staging the protest, with comments like, “No, we’re not. Those hats were clearly never worn. It’s just libs cosplaying as MAGA again,” and “Those are brand-new hats; they were bought and burned by a Democrat.”

A more aggressive voice jumped into the conversation, claiming the backlash is real: “All of you magatards that don't think this s**t's real google it.... this s**ts been going on for months it's just all the Trump supporters are now starting to realize how bad they got f****d, quit crying join the Revolution bi**his.”

Some users remained staunchly loyal to Trump, insisting Epstein was not a reflection on him personally: “Why? Trump has done more for America and has a higher approval rating than any Republican president for generations... I think Epstein was working for US and Israeli intelligence. That’s why the barrier has been set.”

And many flat-out denied any real MAGA involvement: “No we’re not. Left wingers pretending to be MAGA are doing that. Nobody is fooled!”

Summing up the bitter tone from critics, one viral comment read: “MAGA burning hats over Epstein? Guess they finally realized the only thing Trump’s been ‘draining’ is their trust.”

Donld Trump’s call to ignore Jeffrey Epstein files sparks internal GOP backlash

The hat-burning trend stems from Donald Trump’s recent Truth Social post, in which he declared that files related to Jeffrey Epstein were “creations of Radical Left Lunatics” and urged supporters not to “waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein.”

This message followed Trump’s public defense of former Attorney General Pam Bondi during a cabinet meeting. Bondi had previously claimed she possessed a “client list” from Epstein and, in February, hosted far-right influencers at the White House to showcase binders labeled “The Epstein Files, Phase 1.”

She said, “The first phase of declassified files largely contains documents that have been previously leaked but never released in a formal capacity by the US Government.”

The DOJ, however, released a memo earlier this month asserting there is no evidence of a client list or that Epstein blackmailed powerful figures.

The fallout has reached prominent conservative voices. Candace Owens posted, “Did Barack Obama write the Epstein files? Embarrassing,” in response to the administration’s shifting position.

Trump, meanwhile, has continued to deny connections to Epstein. In a 2024 post on Truth Social, he wrote: “I was never on Epstein's Plane, or at his 'stupid' Island. Strong Laws ought to be developed against AI. It will be a big and very dangerous problem in the future!”
