WASHINGTON, DC: It looks like Secretary of State Marco Rubio is not interested in making a run for the Oval Office anytime soon.

In an interview with Fox News’ Lara Trump on July 26, Rubio shut down any talk about a potential presidential run.

When asked if he was eyeing the top job in 2028, Rubio said he could not get involved in domestic politics as Secretary of State. “And I want to do this job as long as the president allows me to do it and stay in that job, which would keep me here all through January of 2028,” he noted.

Marco Rubio says he’s content with his current role

Instead of launching his own campaign, Marco Rubio seems content with where he is.

“I believe that if I am able to be here through the duration of this presidency and we get things done at the pace that we've been doing the past six months, I'll be able to look back at my time in public service and say, 'I made a difference, I had an impact and I served my country in a very positive way,’” he said.

“And I would be satisfied with that as the apex of my career,” he added. “So that's what I'm focused on right now because we're doing some special things that I think are gonna bear fruit and dividend for a generation.”

While Rubio is steering clear of the campaign trail, he’s giving Vice President JD Vance the full green light. “I think he’s doing a great job as vice president,” Rubio said. “He’s a close friend and I hope he intends to do it.” Rubio even upped the ante, calling Vance “a great nominee, if he decides he wants to do that.”

It’s not just Rubio's support for Vance. According to prediction market Polymarket, Vance is already the front-runner for 2028 with a 27% chance to snag the presidency.

California Gov Gavin Newsom trails with a 14% shot, a drop of two points, while New York firebrand Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez clocks in at 10%. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg landed at 8%, and Rubio himself made the list with a modest 6%.

Also floating in the mix is President Donald Trump with a 3% chance, even though he can’t run for a third term. Interestingly, his son Don Jr is also sitting at 3%.

JD Vance steps in to defuse tensions over Jeffrey Epstein fallout and WSJ report

JD Vance has been playing peacemaker behind the scenes, especially as MAGA erupts over the Jeffrey Epstein mess.

There was major backlash when Donald Trump administration confirmed there was no “client list” tied to Epstein and no more files related to his prison death or sex trafficking case. But Vance stayed above the fray.

“Vice President Vance is following President Trump’s lead and focusing on celebrating the administration’s policy victories like the historic passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“The White House is racking up wins on a daily basis, and there’s a lot the Vice President can be talking about and working on that actually affects Americans’ day-to-day lives,” the insider added.

When FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and Director Kash Patel grew frustrated over how Pam Bondi handled the Epstein fallout, Vance personally stepped in and urged them not to quit, according to one White House insider.

Then came The Wall Street Journal story claiming Trump once wrote Epstein a birthday letter featuring a crude sketch of a naked woman. Vance staunchly defended his boss.

“Forgive my language, but this story is complete and utter bulls**t he posted on social media. “The WSJ should be ashamed for publishing it.”

He also tore into the paper for allegedly not giving Trump a heads-up before publishing. “Doesn’t it violate some rule of journalistic ethics to publish a letter like this without showing it to the victim of this hit piece?” Vance asked.

Fans want a JD Vance-Marco Rubio ticket, others not convinced

Many applauded Marco Rubio for endorsing JD Vance.

“Very classy on Secretary Rubio’s part. A good display of personal loyalty,” one user posted on X.

“How about a Vance/Rubio ticket!” another gushed.

“I like the Vance/Rubio combo,” a comment read.

“These two are both powerhouses! Rubio needs to stay as sec of state — he is gifted in this role,” another added.

But not everyone was buying the kumbaya moment.

“BS — Rubio wants the job. This is all a game played by a bunch of snakes in the growing swamp!!!” one critic wrote.

Another scoffed, “He’s kissing up for the VP slot."
