NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene accused the President of Mexico of "demanding a bribe" to help stem the influx of illegal migrants into the United States over X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, March 25.

She also slammed Speaker Mike Johnson in the same tweet, for allowing the two-part government funding omnibus bill to pass through without ensuring border security first.

Taking to the social media platform, the US Representative for Georgia shared a clip from Mexican President Andres Obrador's interview on the CBS show '60 Minutes,' which laid out his "proposal for stemming immigration."

It incorporates that the United States 'commit $20 billion a year to poor countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, lift sanctions on Venezuela, end the Cuban embargo, (and) legalize law-abiding Mexicans living in the US."

Obrador stated that the flow of migrants will continue if the US does not agree to the demands. When the interviewer pointed out that his demands were being considered diplomatic blackmail by his critics, he simply responded, "I am speaking frankly. We have to say things as they are. And I always say what I feel and ... think."

In her retweet, Greene added, "Speaker Johnson surrendered every tool we had to force the Biden admin to secure the border in the Omnibus government funding bills and now the President of Mexico is demanding a bribe in order to 'stem the invasion' NOT even stop it!! Johnson can NOT be Speaker of the House!"

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweet

Netizens trolled MTG for her remarks, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"It’s YOUR job to secure the border. Why not do it, Marge? Obviously it’s NBD if you’re doing nothing," wrote a user.

"But all you’re gonna do is whine about it. You ain’t got no teeth anymore Marge," stated another.

"It is called international negotiations Marjorie. Mexico will not necessarily get all or even any of their demands. Negotiating is what countries do that want to exist together. If you did not have the maturity of a 7 year old you would understand," jibed a third.

"Maybe Republicans shouldn't have killed their own border bill by orders of Traitor Trump. Maybe, MAGA Mike Johnson shouldn't have admitted that your party doesn't want to do anything about the border until 2025," chided a fourth.

"Lmao you keep trying this 'let’s all attack Speaker Johnson' angle and we are too sick of your attention-seeking ways to care. You screwed up, you overplayed your hand when you didn’t have the votes. Enjoy actual isolation 🤣" mocked a fifth user.
