WASHINGTON, DC: Marjorie Taylor Greene has once again defended former President Donald Trump, this time criticizing the recent superseding indictment against him.

The indictment comes in the wake of two significant US Supreme Court decisions that have altered the legal landscape surrounding the former president's ongoing legal battles, as reported by The Raw Story.

Marjorie Taylor Greene slams Jack Smith's revised indictment against Donald Trump

Marjorie Taylor Greene took to the social media platform X to express her anger at President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, mistakenly accusing them of appointing special counsel Jack Smith.

In reality, special counsel Jack Smith was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland. Nevertheless, Greene quickly claimed that Smith is continuing what she described as "tyrannical lawfare" against Trump, citing the latest indictment as evidence of a broader political vendetta.

"The Democrat Party, now led by Kamala Harris, wants to put every one of their political opponents in jail and ruin lives," Greene declared in her post, alongside a copy of the indictment.

She added, "Under Democrat rule, America is a Communist country. They hate Republicans and will stop at nothing to put every single one of us in jail. It’s sickening!!"

The latest indictment against Trump, issued by federal prosecutors in Washington, DC, is a response to a recent Supreme Court ruling that has significant implications for Trump's legal strategy.

The ruling, issued on July 1 in the case of Trump v United States, has provided a broad interpretation of "presumptive immunity" for official presidential acts, effectively shielding certain actions taken by Trump during his presidency from legal scrutiny.

The Supreme Court's decision specifically cited the events of January 6, 2021, when a mob of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the certification of the Electoral College vote.

This event continues to be a central issue in the ongoing Washington, DC, case against Trump, with prosecutors arguing that his actions were a deliberate attempt to subvert the 2020 presidential election.

In light of the Supreme Court ruling, federal prosecutors led by special counsel Smith have been forced to adjust their approach.

The revised indictment, now reduced from 45 pages to 36, reflects these changes by narrowing the scope of the charges and focusing more specifically on Trump’s role as a political candidate rather than his interactions with government officials.

"Tyrannical? Trump broke the law, Midge. Jack Smith is doing his job, and he’s doing it for the American people. Jack Smith is a hero. Trump is a criminal," wrote one person.
