LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In the ongoing saga of controversial statements made by Marjorie Taylor Greene, recent remarks made by the Republican Congresswoman from Georgia take the cake..

At a House Republican press conference, Greene defended the violent protests on January 6, 2021, citing "election integrity," despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

In her own words, Greene asserted, "I don't regret anything I said. I think it's important for me to speak out."

Capitol riots as a misguided quest for 'election integrity'

During the press conference, Greene attempted to downplay the severity of the Capitol riots by labeling them as a protest for "election integrity."

This characterization conveniently ignores the violent and destructive actions of Trump supporters who breached the Capitol in an attempt to interrupt the certification of the Electoral College results under the false pretense of a stolen election.

Despite more than 60 court cases failing to substantiate claims of election fraud, Greene stood firm in defending the baseless protests. In her defense, she stated, "We were just standing up for what we believed in."

MTG labels National Guard presence at Biden inauguration as the real 'insurrection'

In a stunning display of cognitive dissonance, Greene then shifted blame to the security measures implemented after the Capitol riots. She suggested that the presence of the National Guard during the peaceful transition of power was, in fact, the true "insurrection".

"And then the American people who pay for elections with their tax dollars actually own the elections. And have had the right. The right to care about their elections, election integrity, and the results of their elections when they came to Washington and protested. All of you call it an insurrection. And then when Joe Biden was inaugurated and this entire Capitol complex was surrounded with 30,000 National Guard troops, none of you stood there and called that an insurrection. Oh, no. You all stayed silent? No."

This assertion flies in the face of reality, as the heightened security measures were a direct response to the violent actions of the mob on January 6. Greene argued, "They wanted to make sure they could attack our president right until the very end."

The Capitol, victimized by an unruly and violent mob, necessitated enhanced security protocols to ensure the safety of the inauguration proceedings on January 20.

In sociological terms, Greene's stance resembles a twisted version of "blaming the victim," as she conveniently overlooks the root cause – the violent breach of the Capitol by Trump supporters.

Greene remained steadfast, declaring, "I think it's important that we have the truth and accountability."

Public outcry against Marjorie Taylor Greene's absurd claims

Social media erupted in disbelief as users responded to Marjorie Taylor Greene's baffling assertion that the National Guard's protection during the inauguration constituted an 'insurrection.'

One user wrote, "OMG She is so stupid. Protecting Biden after a violent insurrection is called an insurrection? All the National Guard did was stand by and protect the inauguration."

Another added, "Oh no, here comes the almost-human voice that feels like nails scratching a chalkboard. Can we please put an end to it? Listening is just unbearable."

One replied, "More telling is the individuals who stand behind her and by representation advocate for her as their spokesperson."

Another commented, "What isn’t wrong ?? Greene is a ReTrumplican VP wannabe."
