Internet baffled as California woman whose body was found in freezer believed to be missing for 9 years
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA: The identity of the 81-year-old woman whose body was discovered inside a chest freezer at a San Diego home last month has been confirmed, officials said on Thursday.
The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) claims that, based on the results of the investigation thus far, Mary Margaret Haxby-Jones may have been missing or deceased for up to nine years.
A suspicious death investigation was underway in this case. No arrests were made public right away.
'No obvious traumatic injury' found on Mary Margaret Haxby- Jones' body
Just before noon on December 22, a call was placed from the residence, and the SDPD was called in after family members from out of town, who are currently residing in the house, discovered the remains in a chest freezer.
According to NBC News, the present occupants are unrelated to Haxby-Jones. The SDPD Homicide Unit is open to hearing from anyone with information regarding this incident.
The house is located in the Allied Gardens neighborhood. The peculiar location of the body prompted police to say that homicide detectives were looking into the case.
Although the cause of Haxby-Jones's death is unknown, the SDPD stated in their statement that there was "no obvious traumatic injury to the body." Her death is being looked into and is thought to be suspicious.

Others had several questions. A commentator wrote, "Why is her family not talking, and why did they not look for her? It's horrible she could be in this state, and no one even cared. If that guy's family would have helped him cover this up, no one would have known anything until when?? Thankfully they called police at least."
