WASHOE COUNTY, NEVADA: In a shocking turn of events, Mashenka Reid, 17, has been taken into custody after she allegedly called 911 to confess double homicide.

Responding officers also received emergency calls from neighbors around the Silver Sky Parkway home as they reported arguing and gunshots, according to People.

Mashenka Reid told police she 'couldn't resist the urge to kill somebody'

Reid allegedly called 911 on herself and reportedly told the dispatcher, "I just couldn't resist the urge to kill somebody."

Upon their arrival on Friday, February 9, responding officers found the teenager's father and younger brother dead in their Reno home in Nevada.

Citing court documents, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported that the 17-year-old girl's mother and sister who hid in a locked bedroom were rescued by police.

As per the probable cause affidavit filed in the Reno Justice Court, Reid allegedly told the 911 dispatcher, "I shot my dad. I shot my brother. My brother is dead."

Reid's younger brother "approximately a four-or five-year-old juvenile," suffered a gunshot in the head and was found "lying on a couch in the living room," as per court documents obtained by the local newspaper.

Law enforcement authorities found her father's body in the garage and he was found with gunshot wounds to his chest and back.

Both the victims whose names are yet to be released were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators recovered a Walther PPS gun from the scene which is believed to be the weapon used in the murder.

Mashenka Reid is currently being held in the Washoe County jail

Following the arrest, the 17-year-old was charged as an adult with two counts of open murder and one count of attempted murder.

She is currently being held in the Washoe County jail. The teenager is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, February 15, for a bail hearing.

It remains unclear whether Reid has entered a plea.

A potential motive behind the shocking murder remains unclear as law enforcement officials have yet to provide any insights into what might have led to the double homicide.
