Matthew Perry’s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, went on drive in actor’s car after his death: Report
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lisa Calio, who worked for Matthew Perry for nearly thirty years, has made a shocking claim about the actor’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa.
Iwamasa, who received three years and five months behind bars on May 27, is one of the five people responsible for the death of ‘The Friends’ star.
Matthew Perry's former friend claims Kenneth Iwamasa drove actor's car after his death
Now it has been reported that Calio sent a letter to the judge before the sentencing of Iwamasa, in which she claimed that he took away the actor’s car for a drive soon after he died on October 28, 2023. Perry was 54 at the time.
“I received a text from Kenny at 4 a.m. as he was driving one of Matthew’s cars from the house in the Hollywood Hills to the house in the Palisades. And he was loving it,” she mentioned in the letter as reported by TMZ.
Calio also stated that the “true concern” of Iwamasa, responsible for injecting Perry with drugs, “was not upsetting the lifestyle to which he’d become accustomed,” before noting she's read that “he watched Matthew seize up more than once and never told any of us who cared so deeply for Matthew.”
Lisa Calio calls Kenneth Iwamasa a 'narcissist'
“Kenny Iwamasa killed my friend. His narcissistic, outrageous, irresponsible behavior, his psychotic plan, caused him to heat the jacuzzi, give Matthew the giant shot he requested, and leave him alone to die,” Calio asserted in her letter.
Further in the letter, the former friend and publicist of Perry thrashed Iwamasa for “wanting a position in” the Matthew Perry Foundation after his death, claiming that was what Matthew wanted.
“No, it wasn’t. Kenny had many outrageous requests and expectations that he thought would continue for the rest of his life,” she stated.
Concluding her letter, Calio added, “Whatever sentence he receives, it won’t be long enough. He will always be known as the man who killed Matthew Perry. I suppose there should be some comfort in that.”
Kenneth Iwamasa seeks forgiveness from Matthew Perry's family
Meanwhile, during his sentencing in a Los Angeles courtroom, Iwamasa addressed Perry’s family.
He reportedly said, “I'm so sorry to all of you. I'm just so sorry to have done illegal acts that I will forever regret. I will take it to my grave. I hope I'll be a cautionary tale to someone who's in my position to make better choices.”
The live-in personal assistant of ‘The Ron Clark Story’ star has to report to the prison on July 17 to serve his sentencing. Even after the end of his prison time, two years of supervised release have been imposed on him by Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett.
