Tony Hinchcliffe lashes out at Chelsea Handler for criticizing his jokes at Kevin Hart roast
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tony Hinchcliffe has thrashed Chelsea Handler after she slammed him for making jokes about George Floyd during Netflix’s ‘The Roast Of Kevin Hart’ on May 10.
Hinchcliffe, during his set, had roasted Hart by saying, “You’ve done good though, Kevin. The Black community is so proud of you. Right now, George Floyd is looking up at us all laughing so hard he can’t breathe.”
Handler then responded by calling him and Shane Gillis “r**ists” and “bigots”.
Tony Hinchcliffe calls Chelsea Handler 'a c**t'
But Hinchcliffe is not holding back as during Tuesday’s, May 26, episode of his ‘Kill Tony’ podcast, he said, “There’s news articles, ’cause news isn’t real, nothing is real, that say that I got ‘lit up’ by Chelsea Handler, which is very, very funny because that’s not what happened at all.”
“You can’t believe anything you see or read on the news anymore, you have to actually watch the thing for yourself,” the 41-year-old comedian claimed, before adding, “She was a bit of a c**t, I’ll tell you that!”
Tony Hinchcliffe accuses Chelsea Handler of not writing her own jokes
Further attacking Handler, Hinchcliffe stated that she “just kept coming at me. She said I took the Saudi Arabia money – she was, like, wrong about things.”
‘The Roast of Tom Brady’ star also alleged that the 51-year-old actress did not herself write her jokes.
“The writers just didn’t do her any justice. Fun fact, the teleprompter only went down during my set, and it gave me a lot of opportunity to remind Chelsea Handler what she looks like and where her life is,” Hinchcliffe added.
Kevin Hart backs Tony Hinchcliffe
This came as Hart has also defended Hinchcliffe and himself.
During his May 26 appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club’, he said, “Yeah, the George Floyd joke, it wasn’t a tasteful joke to our culture, to our audience, but our audience that’s watching the roast, if you’re watching the roast, you get why they’re doing it. You get why the racial humor is on the table.”
The actor, 46, also insisted that Hinchcliffe’s set was one of the best during the May 10 special.
“Tony Hinchcliffe arguably had the best set or one of the best sets. Pete [Davidson] had a great set, too. Pete had a Charlie Kirk joke in it,” Hart noted, before adding, “But do I get why they’re being told? Yes. I’m not looking at Pete crazy. I’m not looking at Tony. That’s what I know what you’re going to do. I know your style of comedy.”
