Matthew Perry’s sister recalls 'Friends' cast’s heartbreaking goodbye at his private funeral
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matthew Perry’s sister has talked about the ‘Friends’ star’s private funeral, which was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, days after he died.
The actor’s sister Mia Perry Bowick also recalled ‘Friends’ cast members’ final goodbye to him in ‘The One About Matthew Perry’, a three-part docuseries that premiered on Netflix on Tuesday, October 27. Perry was 54 when he died in October 2023.
Matthew Perry's 'Friends' co-stars went near his casket 'holding hands' and cried

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer were present at his “very small, close friends and family” funeral and, as per Mia, “the 'Friends' cast all walked in together,” as reported by PEOPLE.
She revealed, “I hadn’t seen them in easily 20 years. And Jen Aniston was the first one of them to come up to me and give me a huge hug, but they all did,” before adding, “And then all five of them walked up to the casket holding hands, and just stood around him, crying.”
'Friends' cast called Matthew Perry 'family'
Following Perry’s untimely passing, a joint statement was issued by her former co-stars.
It read, “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”
“In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world,” they had added.

Also, at the time, a statement by ‘Friends’ co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane as well as executive producer Kevin Bright said, “We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing. It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives. He was a brilliant talent.”
Jennifer Aniston remembered Matthew Perry as 'a brilliant human being'
Late last year, Aniston spoke to Elle about Perry. “It was so alarming and shocking, yet not shocking. [We] always said, ‘I hope I never get that phone call.’ We miss him. He’s missed.”

“He was a brilliant human being and an extraordinary talent, loved deeply, and wanted happiness more than anything. It makes me sad that he never really achieved that because he deserved it,” the 57-year-old actress added.
