Meghan McCain discloses her voting plan for 2024 election as brother Jimmy backs Kamala Harris
WASHINGTON, DC: Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Republican senator and presidential candidate John McCain, has declared that she will not cast her ballot this year for either former president Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris.
McCain made a post about the presidential race on Tuesday afternoon, September 3, on X, formerly Twitter, but she did not specify who she might vote for in November or whether she would cast a ballot at all.
I greatly respect the wide variety of political opinions of all of my family members and love them all very much.

I however, remain a proud member of the Republican Party and hope for brighter days ahead.
(Not voting for Harris or Trump, hope that clears things up).

Meghan McCain is a 'proud' Republican and wouldn't follow in brother's footsteps
In contrast to her younger brother Jimmy McCain, who had told CNN he would be voting for Kamala Harris, Meghan McCain stated she was still a "proud member of the Republican Party" and would not be like him.
"I greatly respect the wide variety of political opinions of all of my family members and love them all very much," Meghan McCain wrote, per Newsweek. "I however, remain a proud member of the Republican Party and hope for brighter days ahead. (Not voting for Harris or Trump, hope that clears things up)"
Although McCain did not specify whether she would support Trump or Harris, she did speak with independent contender Robert F Kennedy Jr on her podcast earlier this year, and she cautioned Democrats that Kennedy could still "make a real difference", even after he withdrew his candidacy and endorsed Trump last month.
Meghan McCain's brother Jimmy backs Kamala Harris
Jimmy McCain, Meghan McCain's brother and an Army intelligence officer, stated he had switched from being an independent to a Democrat and that he "would get involved in any way" he could to support the Harris campaign, during an appearance on CNN.
The younger McCain criticized Trump for his recent contentious attendance at a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate the third anniversary of a terror attack that claimed the lives of 13 American service personnel while US forces were leaving Afghanistan.
"The point of Arlington Cemetery is to go and show respect for the men and women who have given their lives for this country," Jimmy McCain told CNN's Jake Tapper. "When you make it political, you take away the respect of the people who are there."
Trump campaign crew allegedly got into a physical argument with a cemetery staff member during the visit when they were stopped from filming at a grave site due to federal regulations that forbid partisan political campaigning at military cemeteries.
Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said that the staff member was "suffering from a mental health episode" in comments to the outlet. Campaign adviser Chris LaCivita called the staff member a "despicable individual" who "does not deserve to represent the [hallowed] grounds of Arlington National Cemetery" after challenging the campaign.
Donald Trump's attacks toward end of John McCain's political career
Donald Trump regularly targeted John McCain, the Republican contender for president in 2008, throughout the latter years of his political career.
Trump infamously declared during a 2015 campaign appearance that McCain, a Navy veteran who spent more than five years in Vietnam as a prisoner of war, was "not a hero" because he likes "people that weren't captured".
Several McCain family members have regularly criticized Trump for his derogatory remarks about the late senator. Meghan McCain described the former president as "a piece of s**t, election-denying huckster whose own wife won't campaign with him" in an X post earlier this year.
My dad was an American hero. An icon. A patriot that will be remembered throughout history. I cannot buy a bagel without someone approaching me about how much they loved and miss him.

Internet calls out Meghan McCain for 'throwing her vote away'
Meghan McCain was criticized by netizens for throwing her vote away, potentially giving Donald Trump the advantage over Kamala Harris in the next election.
One X user tweeted, "Such stupidity to throw a vote away Republican or not!"
"It clears up that you have zero respect for our constitution: democracy over party. Not voting is the same as voting for the felon. If you need a good role model to follow, try Liz Cheney. Eye-roll at you," remarked one.
Another added, "Not voting is a vote for Trump."
Someone else wrote, "So you’re throwing your vote away. Got it."
