WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly recently took a swipe at former President Donald Trump, labeling his recent conversation with Elon Musk as “rambling” and suggesting that his tendency to go off-topic might be due to age-related factors.

Kelly expressed her views on her podcast, 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' stating, “And look … one of the reasons why Trump gets upset with yours truly is because I have been raising that question for a while. And when he has what appear to be senior moments, I will call him out on it, and he doesn’t like that, and I can’t say that I blame him, but that’s my job,” as per Mediaite.

Donald Trump’s long chat with Elon Musk draws criticism for ‘rambling’ style

Donal Trump’s discussion with Elon Musk, which took place on Monday evening on the social media platform X, lasted over 90 minutes. During the conversation, Trump shared his perspective on a failed assassination attempt and criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, his opponent in the upcoming election.

Kelly, who has a history of feuding with Trump from her time at Fox News and NBC, noted that Trump’s conversation with Musk came across as “quite rambling.”

She elaborated, “I mean it was like he rambles, he goes on too long, at his rallies and in these exchanges and at his presser the other day to where you get kind of bored, you lose the thread, you lose interest, which is not something you’re used to with Trump.”

She contrasted this with Trump’s more compelling presence during the 2016 campaign, attributing the change to possible age-related issues. Kelly added, “Trump in 2016, he was tough to lose interest in, and I think that’s probably an age-related change.”

She suggested that Trump’s team faces the challenge of keeping him focused and on message, remarking, “So, I think this is one of the challenges of the people around him, who are I’m sure desperately trying to get him to stick on message.”

Right-wing voices urge Trump to focus on policy

Amid these observations, some voices on the right have urged Donald Trump to concentrate more on policy differences with his rivals rather than resorting to personal attacks.

The discussion about age and cognitive abilities has also been prominent on the Democratic side, particularly after President Biden’s recent decision to withdraw from the presidential race last month due to growing concerns over his age, mental sharpness, and ability to contend with Trump in the November election.

This decision followed a debate performance where Biden appeared low-energy and struggled to maintain focus.

Trump is scheduled to hold a briefing with reporters at his New Jersey golf club on Thursday, marking his second such event in recent days.
