Mehdi Hasan slams JD Vance over deportation of legal resident, calls him ‘worse than Elon Musk and Trump’

WASHINGTON, DC: Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan went all out against Vice President JD Vance after the Trump administration reportedly sent a legal resident protected by a 2019 court order to a notorious mega prison in El Salvador.
Referring to the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father with no violent criminal history, Hasan said, as per Raw Story, “Are we sending immigrants to foreign labor camps because of traffic violations too now?”
“You cannot make this s**t up, but JD Vance can,” he claimed.
JD Vance doubled down on his lie
JD Vance recently came under fire for his mistake but instead of accepting it, he insisted in a tweet that “according to the court document you apparently didn’t read he was a convicted MS-13 gang member with no legal right to be here.”

But the British-American broadcaster was not in a mood to forgive Vance.

Mehdi Hasan accuses JD Vances of making up facts
He said on Zeteo, the news group he founded, “The vice president of the United States – I know we've become numb to this; I know we've normalized this which we shouldn't have – but the vice president of the United States went onto a public media platform and told a journalist a flat falsehood, something flat false, something completely untrue, demonstrably untrue, he lied and said, ‘look at the court document.’”
He further claimed that the documents “doesn't say he was convicted of any crimes, JD Vance just made it up and put it out there. Now does the vice president correct himself next morning? No JD Vance doubles down.”

Hasan then questioned Vance’s humanity as he stated, “Think about what kind of human being you have to be that you get caught lying, you double down on the lie, he doesn't admit that he was wrong to say convicted, he says ‘a judge determined this.’”
The writer also accused the Marine Corps veteran of being “worse than Musk and Trump."
He added, “Because JD Vance is supposed to be the Yale Law grad, the public intellect of the right, the best-selling memoirist, the man who's married to a woman of color, the man who has humble origins that none of that applies to Musk and Trump to be fair."
“Trump could always have the excuse that 'I lied because I'm insane.' What's JD Vance's excuse?” Hasan asked while concluding his rant.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s lawyer defends him
This came after Garcia’s lawyer Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg denied him being "an MS-13 gang member" in a statement to NBC News.
"The only basis of his gang membership was a confidential informant, there was never any hard and fast proof," he said.
“There is a judicial process. They could have gone back to the judge who, in 2019, gave him an order of protection and could have asked that judge to lift that order. They didn’t do that, they just put him on an airplane,” the attorney added.
