While the ceremony was dotted with multiple noteworthy episodes, the online chatter surrounding the incoming first lady's sartorial choices has gained traction.

After her fans previously dug in to find the hidden meaning of her black coat dress, another section of fashion police was left in stitches over Melania’s black Valentino dress, which they said bore similarity to a Pilgrim’s attire.

The print, which started a conversation of its own, is the image of a sculpture, The Kiss, in which a pair of lovers embrace and share a kiss amid flowers and butterflies.

However, not everyone was impressed with the former model’s outfit choice as several social media users criticized the dress for its “Pilgrim” like look, reported OK! Magazine.

Internet says Melania Trump was dressed like a 'Pilgrim'

As Melania Trump's attire for Jimmy Carter's state funeral went viral, several social media users found her black Valentino dress bearing a resemblance to a Pilgrim's dress. Some even said they were reminded of Thanksgiving dress.

One user said, "Melania looked like she was waiting for Thanksgiving dinner."

Someone else added, "Why is Melania dressed like a Pilgrim going to Thanksgiving dinner?"

"Melania thought she had a part in a Thanksgiving play by the looks of how she’s dressed!!! 🥴🥴🥴🤣🤣🤣🤡🤡🤡," shared someone else.

Another user added, "What's up with Melania's pilgrim dress? Thanksgiving was 2 mos ago," reminded someone else.

Another netizen penned, "Noted: Melania wearing the latest in Pilgrim wear."

Someone else asked, "Why did Melania come as a Pilgrim? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️"

"Melanie is sporting the look of a Pilgrim. Large white collar and hair severely pulled back. What on earth made her think that looked good?" asked another fan.

A user remarked, "My take on the Pilgrim attire is that Melania is telling the world about the witch hunt these odious hypocrites have committed. She's the stoic Puritan heroine that they prepared for burning at the stake."

"Melania is just missing the pilgrim hat, otherwise she could have been perfect pilgrim," chimed in another.
