MARIETTA, GEORGIA: An hours-long standoff with a barricaded suspect ended tragically on Saturday night, April 6 when a man and a woman were found dead inside a Marietta home, according to police.

Michael Reno, 38, a suspect in multiple crimes including gun and cash robbery, was at the center of the standoff, according to police. Reno had barricaded himself inside a Marietta home on Saturday night. It all started at about 3.50 pm.

Michael Reno was charged with stealing more than $18K

Marietta Police officers used a Flock camera alert on Saturday to alert Cobb County 911 dispatch that they had found a car parked on Amy Drive with a stolen license plate.

Police claimed that the driver fled the vehicle and went inside a house on the same street when they got close to the vehicle.

Marietta Police found that Reno was a person of interest in a case involving the theft of numerous firearms and cash from a Paulding County home after conducting additional investigation, as reported by 11 Alive.

When the man allegedly refused to come outside, MPD's SWAT team was called in. Cobb County Sheriff's Office deputies were called in by SWAT to assist in negotiating a nonviolent surrender.

Reno was charged with stealing more than $18,000 in cash and about $20,000 worth of handguns and rifles from his brother's residence, according to the Paulding County Sheriff's Office.

Incident is believed to be a murder-suicide

Police claimed to have seen at least one rifle inside the residence when they tried to speak with Reno. For several hours, Amy Drive was blocked off by Marietta Police while they attempted to reason with the suspect.

The two bodies were discovered in a back room that police broke into at 10.40 pm after they claimed to have used a drone to enter the house around 10.15 pm.

Police discovered Courtney Dobberson-Watts lying in the room next to Reno, who was found dead with multiple weapons around him.

According to family, Dobberson-Watts was in a relationship with the person who was renting the house, officers said. Evidence currently available suggests that this was a murder-suicide.

Situated slightly over a mile from Marietta Square, the neighborhood is located off North Marietta Parkway.
