YUBA COUNTY, CA: A California man, who severely assaulted his wife in front of his child who had the incident captured on camera, has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Miguel Lazaro-Castillo, 38, who in October entered a plea of not guilty to charges of felony domestic violence, misdemeanor child abuse, and false imprisonment, was given the longest sentence permitted by law.

According to a statement from the Yuba County District Attorney's Office, the allegations were related to a terrifying occurrence that was reported on the morning of October 9, when the Yuba County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from one of Lazaro-Castillo's children.
When deputies arrived at the family's house in a hurry, they discovered Lazaro Castillo seated on top of his wife, who was face down and covered in bloody napkins.
At the time, the couple's three children, who were ages nine, fourteen, and fifteen, were at home.

Deputies discovered during the investigation that Lazaro-Castillo's youngest kid had recorded the vicious attack on camera.
The married father was allegedly seen repeatedly poking his wife in the face and head on the footage, which had a duration of over six minutes.
According to the DA's office, one of Lazaro-Castillo's kids attempted to shield her mother from the blows by covering her with her hands.
However, it is said that Lazaro-Castillo gave the girl a leg slap before continuing to batter his wife by turning her over onto her stomach and slamming her face into the carpet "for an extended amount of time."
At first, Lazaro Castillo said he "had no idea where all the blood had come from" and denied beating his wife.
Officials later discovered that the husband, wife, and one of their little children were inebriated.
A deputy detained Lazaro-Castillo and put the three kids in protective care.
“Despite Lazaro-Castillo not having a prior criminal record, he received the maximum sentence for felony domestic violence based on the brutality of his actions and his utter disregard for his children,” the DA’s office said.
