WASHINGTON, DC: House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson spoke out against the open-border policy of the Biden administration and held President Joe Biden responsible for the crimes allegedly committed by illegal immigrants in the United States in a social media post on Monday, June 23.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Johnson shared a clip from his recent interview with Fox News host Mark Levin, where he is seen speaking about the deaths of Rachel Morin and Laken Riley to highlight the threat of illegal immigration.

Riley was a 22-year-old nursing student at Augusta University, whose body was found in a wooded area at the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens on February 22. Jose Antonio Ibarra, an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, was charged with her murder the following day.

The tragic incident became national news, with Biden being heckled for mentioning her death at his State of the Union (SOTU) address by House GOP members.

Morin was a 37-year-old fitness enthusiast who disappeared after going on a jog in August 2023. Her remains were found a day later. Over 10 months later, the incident made the news again, as police arrested Martinez-Hernandez, 23, another illegal immigrant, and charged him with rape and murder.

Mike Johnson slams Joe Biden's open border policy

In the clip that he shared over X, Mike Johnson can be seen slamming President Joe Biden, as he tells Levin, "He (Biden) has allowed in, of course, millions of illegals. They (Biden administration) welcome them with open arms, they put them on taxpayer benefits, they've sent them all around the country."

"And included in that number, of course, are known dangerous people on the terrorist watchlist. We have violent criminals now. We have more and more stories like Rachel Morin and Laken Riley. Innocent Americans are being preyed upon, and this is going to continue for the foreseeable future," he added.

"Now we are worried about terrorist attacks on the homeland. He (Biden) allowed all this, but not just allow it, he engineered it. They did it intentionally and the American people know that, and that's why they are so fed up," the Speaker concluded.

Internet calls out Mike Johnson for 'failing American people'

Netizens called out Speaker Mike Johnson on X for avoiding taking responsibility for the border security issues in the country.

"Mike… with all due respect, you failed the American people by not leveraging a closed border. You lied, you failed. Blood is on your hands too," wrote a social media user.

"It’s your job to secure the border. Shameful you’ve done zero," said another.

"I’m sure another strongly worded tweet will save lives. Resign you useless clown," one person said while slamming the Speaker.

"You and Trump killed border security and these deaths are on your head. You’re a hypocritical liar," expressed another.

"You could (have) tried to stop this. You had the leverage to close the border. You caved because you're a feckless coward. People have died because of your inaction. You're just as responsible as Joe Biden," one individual commented.
