Mint Butterfield: Missing teen linked to Slack co-founder feared 'at risk' after previous self-harm threat

BOLINAS, CALIFORNIA: Police have reported that the 16-year-old runaway, child of billionaire Slack co-founder Stewart Butterfield, is considered "at risk" due to a "prior suicide threat."

The teen's mother, Caterina Fake, founder of Flickr, promptly notified authorities upon finding the letter, expressing concern that Mint might be heading for San Francisco's notoriously perilous Tenderloin District neighborhood.

As per the Marin County Sheriff's press release regarding a voluntary missing person, the Communications Center received a call about 16-year-old Mint Butterfield at around 9:02 AM on April 22nd. It's essential to mention that Mint prefers they/them pronouns.

Mint's mother, Catrina Fake, reported them missing. The last time she saw her daughter was around 10:00 PM on April 21st at their home in Bolinas, as per New York Post.

The following morning, Fake discovered that Mint was not at home and found a note indicating that Mint had left with a suitcase sometime during the night or early morning.

It remains unclear how Mint left the area, as they did not have access to a vehicle or phone.

Fake and Mint also share a home in San Francisco and based on Fake's statements, it's believed that Mint may have traveled to the Tenderloin District of San Francisco.

At present, there is no information indicating that Mint was abducted or taken against their will.

Sheriff’s office believes Mint Butterfield is ‘at-risk’

The Sheriff’s Office classified Mint as a voluntary-missing juvenile who is "At-Risk" due to a previous threat of self-harm.

Marin County Deputies entered Mint's information into the Missing and Unidentified Persons System (MUPS) and distributed All Points Bulletin flyers to surrounding law enforcement agencies, including a description and photograph of Mint.

In collaboration with the San Francisco Police Department, detectives from both agencies have made efforts to locate Mint but have been unsuccessful at the time of this release.

Regrettably, misinformation has been circulating on social media and other platforms regarding potential associates or individuals who may know Mint's whereabouts.

Several phone numbers have also been shared, inviting individuals to provide information. Anyone with knowledge about Mint's whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Marin County Sheriff’s Office at (415) 479-2311 or email tips@marinsheriff.org.

Officials released an image of the teenager, specifying that Mint is 5 feet tall, weighs 100 pounds, and has curly brown/reddish hair with pierced eyebrows.

They mentioned that Mint was last seen dressed in a black sweatshirt, flannel pajama pants, and black boots, possibly carrying a gray suitcase.

Upon learing the missing report of Mint Butterfield, many internet users have shared their perspectives on the missing teen on Facebook.

One shared, “Another suicidal on-binary Gen Z'er. It's almost as if the two go together. But in the OPPOSITE way that the wokies want us to believe. Being non-binary doesn't bring the depression and suicidal thoughts. Being depresses and suicidal makes people claim to b non-binary looking for SOME meaning in life. In other words..it is made up.” [sic]

Another wrote, “Mint Butterfield..... what could possibly go wrong?:woozy_face:” [sic]

Another user wrote, “Another gender confused individual with a substance abuse problem. How shocking”
