MTG sides with Giorgia Meloni as she takes fresh jab at Trump after G7 photo claim: ‘He lies’
WASHINGTON, DC: The once-unshakable alliance between Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene has deteriorated so dramatically that the Georgia firebrand is now publicly backing Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni over the president.
The former Congresswoman took the side of the European leader after she vehemently rejected Trump’s claim that she “begged” him for a photo at the Seven (G7) summit this week.
The 80-year-old President was in a sit-down interview with Italy’s La7 TV channel, where he insisted that Meloni “wanted a picture with me so badly.”
“She’s probably happy I talked to her. I didn’t have to talk to her,” he reportedly said. “She begged me to take a picture with her. She wanted a picture with me so badly. I wouldn’t have taken it, but I felt sorry for her.”
MTG says ‘Trump lies constantly’
Meloni mounted a rare public rebuke of Trump in a newly released video, accusing him of falsely portraying what transpired between them at the G7 summit in France.
“There is one thing he must remember: Neither I nor Italy ever beg,” Meloni said in Italian, adding that she was left “astounded” by the president’s comments.

“I do not know why the president of the United States behaves this way toward his allies — it is certainly not the first time this has happened,” she said.
“I can only say it is regrettable that he does not show the same determination against the enemies of the West and the United States — against leaderships with whom he actually proves to be much more accommodating,” she continued.
I believe @GiorgiaMeloni, she’s great!

Reacting to Meloni’s claims, Greene wrote that “I believe @GiorgiaMeloni, she’s great!” before adding “Trump lies. Constantly.”
MTG forced to travel abroad for healthcare
Greene's once-close alliance with Trump has steadily unraveled, with the Georgia Republican increasingly breaking ranks over issues ranging from the Epstein files to the president's stance on foreign conflicts.
Last week, she scoffed at recent comments Trump made, claiming he never said he would avoid new wars.
“After that interview came out and he’s on record claiming he never said that he wouldn’t go to war, no more foreign wars, you know, people rolled out video after video of him saying on the campaign trail, just like I heard him say personally so many times as I campaigned with him, where he said, ‘No more foreign wars, I will end war. I will bring world peace.’ He said that over and over again,” Greene said during an appearance on CNN’s “The Source.”
Most recently, the Georgia Republican revealed that she was forced to seek regenerative stem cell treatment abroad in Mexico, blasting the United States’ expensive health care system.

Healthcare costs are out of control, and more Americans are leaving the U.S. for medical tourism treatments they can’t access in the United States or can’t afford at home.

“Americans cannot get many health treatments at home in the United States that they can at places like the Dream Body Clinic here in Mexico and other countries, and it’s really a shame, you know,” said Greene, slamming U.S. healthcare as “absurdly expensive.”
“Treatments like stem cell therapies to me are a great expenditure,” Greene said in the video she shared on X. “I think it’s great because it’s regenerative, it’s restoring, and it works on a cellular level.”
