COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace posted an image of a painting on X (formerly Twitter) featuring President Donald Trump at a table with a group of former presidents to celebrate Presidents Day on Monday, February 17.

In the painting by artist Andy Thomas, Trump could be seen in the company of national heroes Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt and conservative icon Ronald Reagan.

However, the painting seated him with Richard Nixon and George W Bush, the latter of whom Trump had criticized for having "a failed and uninspiring presidency", per Daily Beast.

Nancy Mace captioned the post on X, "Today, we celebrate the past and present Presidents whose leadership has helped shape America into the greatest country in the world. God bless America."

In the painting, Trump could be seen sitting right of Nixon, whose White House carried out many illegal stings in the early 1970s, including bugging the offices of his political foes, per the outlet.

Nixon also famously declared that he was "not a crook" in 1973 but prevented impeachment by resigning, and managed to escape criminal prosecution when his successor, Gerald Ford, pardoned him.

Interestingly, in 2020, Trump told 'Fox & Friends' during his first term that he "learned a lot from Richard Nixon: don’t fire people".

Trump said in 2020, "I learned a lot from Richard Nixon - don't fire people. I learned a lot. I study history, of course there was one big difference: Number one he may have been guilty and number two he had tapes all over the place."

Apart from Nixon, Trump could be seen sitting across from a smiling George W Bush in the painting, who is often ranked by historians as among the worst modern presidents, according to Daily Beast.

Moreover, even Trump is not a great fan of Bush. He said in a statement in 2021, per the outlet, "Why was he willing to spend trillions of dollars and be responsible for the death of perhaps millions of people? He shouldn’t be lecturing us about anything. The World Trade Center came down during his watch. Bush led a failed and uninspiring presidency."

Internet chides Nancy Mace for posting 'weird' painting on Presidents Day

Many people online blasted Nancy Mace as she celebrated Presidents Day with a painting of Donald Trump next to Richard Nixon and asked her to remove certain former presidents from the painting.

A user wrote on X, "Remove both Bushes and Ford and it might be worth displaying", while one added, "If you think the Bush’s were good for us, then you know nothing !!"

A person also stated, "This is beyond weird?!" whereas one mentioned, "I don’t know what George W Bush is doing in that picture."

A user wrote, "What an insult, to the many great presidents we’ve had. Nancy came to Congress, full of vigor and be different….has turned into a MAGA HACK! So sad.

Another commented, "Really?! The Bush's?!!!"
