WASHINGTON, DC: The Minneapolis shooting has pushed the nation into a tense and deeply unsettling moment. The incident has sparked widespread anger and concern across the country.

Nancy Pelosi has now shared her perspective on the shooting and strongly condemned the killing of Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. She publicly denounced the incident and underscored its seriousness.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, January 8, Pelosi described the death of the 'unarmed' woman as a “moral outrage.” She stated that the woman was shot by a 'masked' federal agent. Like several other political leaders, Pelosi emphasized that accountability is essential and made it clear that justice in this case cannot be ignored.

Nancy Pelosi demands accountability after Minneapolis ICE shooting

Addressing the killing, Pelosi said, “The killing of an unarmed woman by a masked federal agent in Minneapolis is a moral outrage and a betrayal of American values. There has been no justification offered, only deception and deflection from those in charge.”

She continued by stressing the need for justice and accountability. Pelosi concluded, “Accountability for this killing is not optional. As we pray for the victim’s family and loved ones, our nation must reject this violence and unequivocally denounce it.”

Protests erupt nationwide after Minneapolis ICE shooting

Minneapolis woke to a tense and hostile atmosphere following a deadly shooting involving an ICE agent. A 37-year-old woman was killed during the incident, which reportedly stemmed from a moment of confusion. Authorities later identified the woman as a US citizen.

The situation escalated after a video of the shooting surfaced online. Donald Trump offered a sharply different account of the incident on Truth Social, claiming the ICE agent acted in self-defense. He stated that the woman was behaving “viciously” and that the use of force was necessary.

The shooting has triggered protests across the country, with demonstrations and rallies ongoing in several cities. Some gatherings have been labeled an “emergency rally,” and in certain locations, national flags have been burned.

Tim Walz sharply criticized the circumstances surrounding the shooting, saying, “What we’re seeing is the consequences of governance designed to generate fear, headlines, and conflict. It’s governing by reality TV, and today that recklessness cost someone their life.”

NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani also condemned the incident and Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids more broadly. He said, “I believe that these raids are cruel and inhumane and they do nothing to actually serve the interests of public safety. And what New Yorkers want to see is a city that they are safe in, a city they can also feel comfortable leaving their home in.”
