NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Nancy Pelosi made an appearance on ‘The Excerpt’ podcast by USA Today on Monday, December 15, where she discussed whether Donald Trump’s actions warranted impeachment during his second term.

Although Trump has been impeached by the House of Representatives in the past, Pelosi suggested that she didn’t believe he needed to be impeached yet. “Let's see if he crosses the border again,” she added.

Nancy Pelosi said Trump was chiefly 'responsible' for his impeachment

While speaking to Susan Page on ‘The Excerpt’, Nancy Pelosi chimed in on whether the Democrats should think about impeaching President Trump if they regain the House during the midterm elections.

Pelosi said that when she served as the speaker of the House of Representatives, the person “most responsible” for Trump’s impeachment was Donald Trump himself.

She added that he had given the House no choice by crossing the line with his conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and jeopardizing the American elections.

She further commented on Trump’s actions during his current term, including “freeing a d**g dealer,” Juan Orlando Hernandez, the former president of Honduras. Pelosi also commented on the recent boat strikes and said, “There’s something wrong with this picture.”

Nancy Pelosi said impeachment should not be on Democrats’ agenda

However, Pelosi added that she was on the “positive side” to ensure that people honored the visions of the American founders, and the “sacrifice of our men and women in uniform and the dreams and aspirations of our children.”

When asked if Trump’s impeachment should not be on the Democrats’ agenda this year, Nancy Pelosi said, “No.”

“Let’s see if he crosses the border again. But that’s not an incidental thing you say,” she added.

The former speaker of the House of Representatives explained that there needed to be a cause and reason.

She added that while the founders knew there would be a rogue president in America, they didn’t know that there would be a “rogue senate” at the same time that didn’t have the courage to do the right thing.

“It was bipartisan in the Senate, but it wasn’t enough,” she added.

Donald Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in January 2021, for the second time. At the time, he had one week remaining before his term ended, and he became the only president in American history to be impeached twice.
