MIAMI, FLORIDA: An Instagram post from Annah Tagovailoa, wife of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, has sparked an Internet frenzy after she praised former President Donald Trump for his hurricane relief efforts.

The post, which highlighted Trump’s gesture of offering accommodations to Florida linemen at Trump National Doral, Miami ahead of Hurricane Milton’s landfall, quickly ignited backlash online.

Annah Tagovailoa shared a post from conservative influencer Benny Johnson praising the move, leading social media users to interpret her support as political endorsement just weeks before the November 5 election.

However, not all feedback was negative, though. Some praised Annah for acknowledging Trump’s role in aiding Florida Power & Light linemen, as Trump's son Eric Trump announced that 275 workers were staying at the resort ahead of the hurricane.

Tagovailoa family no strangers to political spotlight

This isn't the first time the Tagovailoa family has been pulled into the political discourse. Tagovailoa himself made headlines when he posed with Trump in 2018 when the Crimson Tide were invited to the White House following Alabama's national title win.

Earlier this year, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes, also faced backlash for interacting with Trump’s social media posts.

Dolphins QB remains sidelined with concussion until late October

Tua Tagovailoa and Annah Tagovailoa tied the knot in July 2022. The Dolphins quarterback has been out of action since Week 2, following a concussion sustained during a 31-10 defeat against the Buffalo Bills.

Currently on injured reserve, Tagovailoa is ineligible to return to the field until October 27, when Miami faces the Arizona Cardinals.
