SPOKANE, WASHINGTON: A 32-year-old man's lifeless body was discovered on the road within Spokane's West Central neighborhood last month. 

Niket Everett was found in a partially clothed and unresponsive state, indicating blunt force injuries.

The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) of the Spokane Police Department assumed control of the investigation. As the investigation unfolded, additional details have emerged. 

Notably, a fundraising campaign was initiated by a friend to support the essential funeral services for Everett.

What did Spokane Police Department say?

As per KHQ.com, Spokane police responded to an incident at approximately 5.30 am on December 5, 2023. 

A caller had reported that a man was lying in the roadway near North Pettet Drive and West Nora Avenue. The caller indicated that the man appeared to be injured. 

Despite the life-saving efforts of first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. 

The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has not yet determined whether the man was involved in a crash. 

Julie Humphreys, a police spokesperson, stated that detectives are actively continuing their investigation.

GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral service costs

Beyonce Nieves started a fundraising initiative on the GoFundMe platform to raise money for Everett's funeral.

On the GoFundMe page, Nieves initially expressed sorrow over the death of Everett, stating, “We are saddened to say that we are asking help to bury our loved one Niket Everett he was 32 year old.”

The page further stated, “December 5 2023 at 5.30 am God took him home. Niket Everett was a father of 5 girls unfortunately, his life was taken from him unexpectedly. Niket did to not have Life Insurance. So with this unforeseen tragedy we're asking that the community can come together along with friends and family can come together to help send him home properly.”

The fundraiser further appealed for assistance in covering funeral arrangements, stating, “We asked to help for funeral arrangements to cover cost and to have a amazing service to celebrate his life to give him a proper home going. We are hoping you be able to donate for this cause will truly appreciate it.”
