Nikki Haley slammed after she suggests she's no longer bound by RNC pledge to back eventual GOP nominee
WASHINGTON, DC: Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley has suggested that she may no longer feel bound by her pledge to the Republican National Committee (RNC) to support the eventual nominee, reported the New York Post.
In an interview on NBC's 'Meet the Press' aired on Sunday, March 3, the former South Carolina governor said the presidential contenders "had to take" the pledge at the time of the debate.
Referring to the upcoming changes at the committee, Haley stated, "The RNC is now not the same RNC."
"No, I think I'll make what decision I want to make, but that's not something I'm thinking about," Haley said when host Kristen Welker pressed her whether she was bound by the pledge.

According to CNN, presidential candidates had to sign a pledge committing to back the eventual GOP nominee for them to appear in the GOP primary debate stage. Trump refused to participate in any of these debates.
In a major shakeup engineered by former president Donald Trump, he endorsed North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley for RNC chair and his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, for co-chair, a move criticized by the former UN Ambassador.
Current chairwoman Ronna McDaniels is expected to resign after the March 5 Super Tuesday primaries.
Nikki Haley throws multiple criticisms against Donald Trump
The former UN ambassador, who lost to Trump in all GOP caucuses and primaries except in Washington DC, called out her opponent's controversial actions.
Weighing in on his alleged involvement in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, she said, "Having the rally was not a crime. To turn around and not stop people from breaking the law when he had the opportunity to do that is questionable, and that's what I think the courts are going to have to play with." However, she did not call for him to get convicted in the federal indictments against him.
The White House hopeful also expressed her concerns about whether Trump would abide by the Constitution, citing his remarks about "revenge" and "retribution."
"I don't think there should ever be a president that's above the law. I don't think that there should ever be a president that has total immunity," she added about the former president's claims for absolute presidential immunity to protect himself from the election subversion case prosecution.
Haley's remarks at 'Meet the Press' indicate her growing opposition to RNC, which is turning into a more Trump-inclined committee filled with his MAGA allies. For instance, she had previously accused the former president of using it as a "piggy bank" to pay his mounting legal expenses. She had also urged the members to vote against the RNC's move to fund his legal fees.
The GOP opponents will next face each other in the Super Tuesday primaries when more than a dozen states will choose their nominee. As he closes in on the GOP nomination, Trump is expected to have a landslide victory on March 5.
