Nikki Haley slams George Stephanopoulos for dismissing her 2023 prediction on Biden's unfinished term
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Nikki Haley, the former United Nations Ambassador has reignited a political debate by challenging ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos over her previous prediction about President Joe Biden's tenure.
On Wednesday, July 3, Haley took to X (formerly Twitter) to repost a video of her appearance on ABC's 'Good Morning America' from August 2023 to take a swipe at Stephanopoulos.
Nikki Haley previously asserted vote for Joe Biden is a vote for Kamala Harris
In the reposted video, Nikki Haley suggested that a vote for Joe Biden is a vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.
“Believe me now, George?” the former GOP presidential candidate captioned the post.
During her previous appearance on 'Good Morning America' with Stephanopoulos, Haley said, “There is no way Joe Biden is going to finish his term."
"I think Kamala Harris is going to be the next president and that should send a chill up every American’s spine," she added.
Stephanopoulos then challenged her assertion saying, “Excuse me. One second about that, how do you know that Joe Biden is not going to finish his term? What is that based on?”
At the time, Haley replied, “Ask Americans. We look at the decline he’s had over the last few years."
"You have to be honest with the American people, George: There’s no way that Joe Biden is going to finish out a next term. We can’t have an 81-year-old president," she said.
Joe Biden faces increasing calls to step aside
Nikki Haley's recent dig at George Stephenopoulos comes as Joe Biden faces pressure from the Democratic party to step aside from the 2024 race following his lackluster debate performance against former President Donald Trump on June 27.
During the presidential debate, Biden appeared to halt and meander which sparked a wave of panic among Democrats, leading to discussions over Biden's viability as a candidate in the upcoming November election.
Despite these concerns, the president stated that he does not intend to withdraw his candidacy, according to The Hill.
Speculation rise regaring VP Kamala Harris' potential candidacy as Joe Biden's replacement
Vice President Kamala Harris' name has been floated as a potential replacement should Joe Biden choose to drop out of the election race.
On Tuesday, July 2, she reaffirmed her support for Biden and stated that she is "proud" to be his running mate.
A recent poll by CNN indicated that Harris is polling closer to Trump than Biden is, adding to the speculation about her potential candidacy.
The second presidential debate between Biden and Trump will be hosted by ABC on September 10.
